Korean BBQ in Bangi-dong, Seoul: garlic marinated beef at Sutbul
In short
Sutbul Ryuhwa Bangi Branch is an Andong-style garlic marinated beef (maneul jumulleok) restaurant on the Bangi food alley in Songpa, Seoul. On a Saturday at 8pm the order was 150g garlic marinated galbisal (short rib) at 17,900 won, 160g garlic marinated anchangsal (skirt steak) at 34,000 won, seafood doenjang sulbap and Ryuhwa beef kkakji fried rice, with the galbisal aged 72 hours in bamboo salt, coated in garlic seasoning and grilled over charcoal. A solid Korean BBQ pick for a Bangi-dong group dinner that wants something beyond samgyeopsal or plain beef.

I was looking for somewhere to have dinner in Bangi-dong and this time I stopped by Sutbul Ryuhwa Bangi Branch. My boyfriend said his family goes here often, so I went in already assuming it'd be good haha. What makes Sutbul Ryuhwa special is that it's a proper place to try Andong-style garlic marinated meat!! Let's get into the details.
Saturday 8pm on the Bangi food alley: is there a wait at Sutbul Ryuhwa?
I went to Sutbul Ryuhwa Bangi Branch at 8pm on a Saturday, and if I'd been just a bit later I probably would've had to wait 🥹 Can you see how many people were there ,,

Sutbul Ryuhwa sits right on the Bangi restaurant street, so it's easy to head somewhere else nearby for round two after eating, and the space itself was clean and felt right for a dinner gathering. Best of all, their garlic marinated beef is made by tossing galbisal that's been aged 72 hours in bamboo salt with a garlic seasoning.
What we ordered at Sutbul Ryuhwa and what it cost
- ✔ Garlic marinated galbisal, 150g, ₩17,900
- ✔ Garlic marinated anchangsal, 160g, ₩34,000
- ✔ Seafood doenjang sulbap, ₩12,900
- ✔ Ryuhwa beef kkakji fried rice, ₩9,000
This is what we ordered.

Here are the neat little side dishes first. I really liked the combo of white kimchi and salt-wasabi.

Garlic marinated galbisal with a soy sauce-style dip

They put the mountain of garlic piled on top of the meat into the provided sauce and let it simmer right on the charcoal! The meat's already seasoned so it's tasty on its own, but dipping it in the soy sauce-style sauce turned out to be a perfect match 👍🏻

How does the garlic marinated galbisal (short rib) taste?
The charcoal heat here is no joke 🔥 We put the garlic marinated galbisal on first. Let's go. Just watching the meat cook already got my mouth watering.
First you get the savory meaty aroma of the galbisal, then the sharp, slightly sweet flavor of the garlic on top. The seasoning doesn't soak in so much that it's overly salty or sweet — instead it lets the meat's own flavor shine, and grilling it over charcoal made it even better. Once the charcoal smokiness gets into it, you just can't stop picking up piece after piece haha.

It was great on its own, dipped in the sauce, and even with the salt-wasabi combo — all amazing haha.
Garlic marinated anchangsal (skirt steak): how it differs from the galbisal
Then, since it felt like it wasn't quite enough, the person I was with got greedy ^^.. that would be my boyfriend lol. We ordered the garlic marinated anchangsal too.

Since it's prime-grade anchangsal (skirt steak), it had a deeper meaty aroma than the galbisal, and it was chewy yet got more savory the more you chewed. With the garlic seasoning added, the anchangsal's strong flavor came through in a rounder, softer way.

Eating the two back to back, it was interesting how different the texture and flavor were even though both are garlic marinated meat. Both were delicious.
Seafood doenjang sulbap and Ryuhwa beef kkakji fried rice
If you're looking for a Bangi-dong restaurant and want something other than plain samgyeopsal or beef, I'd recommend the garlic marinated meat. After eating just meat for a while, you naturally start craving rice or something with broth ☺️ And apparently I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Seafood doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice soup). We ordered this alongside the meat and dug in right after — the savory, salty flavor of doenjang combined with the umami of the seafood, and it went really well with the meat.

Last up was the Ryuhwa beef kkakji fried rice. Personally, this was my favorite dish of the day! It had beef and kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi) mixed in, so you got the savory beef flavor plus the tangy, salty punch of kkakdugi along with the classic nuttiness of fried rice. Finishing off the meat with fried rice made for a proper full meal, don't you think? Haha
Especially if you're looking for a Bangi-dong restaurant where you can share several dishes, I'd suggest combining the garlic marinated galbisal, the anchangsal, the doenjang sulbap, and the fried rice. Also a great recommendation for a Bangi-dong beef gathering!

Is Sutbul Ryuhwa worth it for a Bangi-dong Korean BBQ dinner?
Above all, I hope you get to experience the standout point here — the 72-hour bamboo salt-aged Andong-style garlic marinated beef 🫶🏻
Worth a visit if you're looking for something different in Bangi-dong. I'd go back 1000%. If you're ever craving meat in Bangi-dong, put Sutbul Ryuhwa Bangi Branch on your list ✨
