Nakji jungwha topped rice and a Cheongsapo date course: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the first floor of a building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, with a European restaurant upstairs. The poached-egg pork belly jjajang, poached-egg octopus jungwha rice, and jalapeño cream shrimp came in generous portions with a sweetish jjajang and cabbage cutting the richness of the shrimp, and the jjachai (pickled mustard tuber) side got a refill. After the meal, a drive to Cheongsapo and a stop at Haewoljeongsa temple made for a solid date course worth repeating.

I'd seen Bueokgan's European restaurant all over Instagram as a hot spot — but wait, they have a Chinese place too?! That's what got me curious about this one!!

Arrived at Bueokgan!🥰 Dalmaji-gil has a lot of uphill stretches, so I'd recommend driving~
Bueokgan has the Chinese restaurant on the first floor and the European restaurant on the second, both in the same building!! I heard it's newly built, and it shows — the building is so clean✨ Next time I have to try the European side too◡̈

Interior and floor-to-ceiling window views
You could call this place an interior hotspot too!! I started eating around break time, so once the crowd cleared I managed to snap a shot haha. Still gorgeous looking back at it..💛💛 The interior seems to hit that girly aesthetic, since there were a lot of couples around

And with the floor-to-ceiling window view, it seems like a great spot for photos too~~ (I took a bunch of shots too🤫)

What we ordered
They had three kinds of jjajangmyeon and jjamppong, so I agonized a bit before deciding! Poached-egg pork belly jjajang, poached-egg octopus jungwha rice, jalapeño cream shrimp. I wanted to order the sweet and sour pork too but it was sold out..😭😭 Definitely getting it next time....(ง •̀_•́)ง

At first I didn't know the name of the jjachai side so I asked ChatGPT — and of course, my bad~ It's definitely not stir-fried mushrooms lol. What king oyster mushroom is that supposed to be.. Anyway that jjachai wasn't super seasoned but had a weirdly addictive quality, so I asked for a refill once^^ (they bring it when you press the kiosk)

Ta-da, the main dishes arrive🤤🤤🤤🤤 (the cream shrimp shows up soon)

They said the wait could be long even for ordering since it was packed, but after going through the aesthetic of waiting, everything looked even tastier — magic🥴 I wanted to get a shot with the cream shrimp too but couldn't hold back and dug in first... the shrimp joined late🍤

Poached-egg octopus jungwha rice
Sooo much food!!!! Spicy but in a good way (not painfully hot). Octopus pieces here and there, a first-time-tasting flavor but full of savory depth!!
Poached-egg pork belly jjajang
The jjajang sauce is sweetish, so good you could just shovel down the onions with it!! The pork belly had a good balance of lean meat and fat, thumbs up👍👍👍👍 I wanted to mix it with rice but there was so much I couldn't finish lol
Jalapeño cream shrimp
The cabbage underneath is the key! Chinese food can feel heavy, but one bite of cabbage cuts through the richness👍 The shrimp's fried exterior was crispy and had coconut powder sprinkled on top — unusual but it worked really well
I'd totally come back🤩🤩 A proper Haeundae Chinese restaurant hotspot, really solid~
Cheongsapo date course after the meal
Came out completely stuffed, and since the weather was nice and it was the weekend, we went for a drive toward Cheongsapo to get some air~!🚘

The weather was seriously so so nice..💚💚 Fellow curious types can't resist checking things out while enjoying the scenery.. you might not see it, but a temple caught my eye so we suddenly did a temple tour too haha. It's a temple called Haewoljeongsa, and I heard you could see the ocean from there, but you couldn't.. disappointing ㅠ

A kitty🐈 sitting on top of the Avalokiteshvara statue. The temple wasn't big so we looked around quickly and left. Still made a wish to Buddha, so please let it come true...🙏🥹

Thirsty and sleepy, so as a caffeine addict a coffee transfusion was necessary...

A short walk then some ocean-gazing. The sea at Cheongsapo is always good whenever you come...🤍 But today it's even prettier. That's a wrap on our date-and-food-hunt outing~
