Dongnae hair salon mint toning for milk brown: Chamer
In short
Chamer is a hair salon in Dongnae, Busan, that blends uneven root and existing hair color naturally. A mint-toned milk-brown color reduced red and yellow tones, followed by a shampoo in a massage chair. Verdict: I loved the calm brown color that still looked bright.

My hair color had been quietly stressing me out for a while, but I kept putting it off because I had no time—then I finally went and got it out of my system. Honestly, instead of full coloring, I had consistently only touched up my roots. As time went by, though, the roots and the rest of my hair gradually became different shades, so the color looked mismatched in places.
So this time, rather than coloring just the roots, I decided to blend the color all over and make it look neat. I had exactly one requirement: a calm shade with as little red and yellow tone as possible! I said I wanted something natural and soft, rather than a color that got too dark or heavy in the effort to remove the red and yellow tones. The shade recommended during my consultation was milk brown.
Chamer hair salon in Oncheon-dong, Dongnae
The place I visited this time was Chamer (차메르), a hair salon in Oncheon-dong, Dongnae.

It is on the second floor at 707-1 Oncheon-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan. Hours are 10:00–20:00 daily, and it is regularly closed every Tuesday.

You can park for free in the dedicated parking lot for Samsanjang Gogitjip on the first floor of the building. If it is full, use Sehyun Parking Lot 100 m ahead: they cover 30 minutes for a cut and 2 hours for a perm or coloring.

I visited after booking through Naver, and I saw that first-time visitors get 20% off perms and coloring, plus ₩5,000 off for subscribing to notifications. I recommend making a Naver reservation if you are visiting.

This was the state of my hair before the appointment—too embarrassing to show anywhere. I should have fixed it ages ago, so I do not know why I waited until now. Still, maybe because the before-and-after was so clear, my personal satisfaction was doubled.
Before starting, I told my stylist about my current hair condition, my previous coloring history, and the shade I wanted.

I especially hate red and yellow tones, so I made sure to mention that. They understood exactly what I wanted, which immediately made me trust them. Because I had repeatedly had root touch-ups, the color varied a little from section to section, so they took even that into account and worked toward naturally blending the color throughout.
The mint tone-down coloring process

First, they toned down my existing hair excluding the roots, and I was so surprised when I saw the color at first. We had decided on natural brown, so what was this mint color?

This is what it looked like applied to everything except my scalp. Mint coloring does not actually make your hair green; a very small amount of mint-toned complementary pigment is added to neutralize yellow and red tones, making the hair look calm in a toned-down shade. It is also a style that is hugely popular with the MZ generation on Instagram these days.

A drink break in the middle.

After a little time had passed, the color had been applied all the way to my scalp.

Once I heard it was a color popular with the MZ crowd, why did I feel so pleased after the full application... haha.

Time for shampoo now. This might be one of Chamer's standout features: the massage chair! Having someone shampoo my hair is already nice, but adding a massage chair made it feel like paradise on top of paradise.
Milk-brown results without red or yellow tones

It came out exactly as I had wanted, so I was really satisfied. The red and yellow tones were clearly gone, right? Since it has that soft, calm milk-brown color, my hair did not look too heavy or dull, yet it had a subtle mood that I absolutely loved.
If you want a calm brown shade without red or yellow tones in Oncheon-dong, Dongnae—or if you want to try the currently popular mint tone-down coloring—I recommend visiting Chamer. I only changed my hair color, but my whole look seems so much softer, and it was a proper mood refresh.
