Korean restaurant in Geumcheon, Seoul for beef hot pot: Yukhwang
In short
Yukhwang is a Korean restaurant in Geumcheon, Seoul, serving Korean beef yukhoe and hearty broth dishes. We had yukhoe bibimbap, boiled beef hot pot, yukhoe, and mungtigi, then happily finished the clear broth with included kalguksu noodles. Yukhwang is a place I’d return to when I’m craving Korean beef in Gasan.

I went to Yukhwang for dinner in Gasan. That day, we properly dug into yukhoe bibimbap, boiled beef hot pot, and yukhoe too, haha.

A Korean beef restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex Station
Yukhwang is in unit 121 on the first floor of Building A at Halla One&One Tower, near Gasan Digital Complex Station. It’s about a five-minute walk from exits 7 and 8!
They use carefully selected fresh Korean beef every day, and the name Yukhwang literally means “the aroma of meat,” apparently!! Their signature dishes let you enjoy Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) as it is, like yukhoe bibimbap and yukhoe mulhoe (raw beef in chilled broth), while they also serve broth dishes made by slowly simmering Korean beef, such as gomtang (beef bone soup) and boiled beef hot pot. 🤍💛

Tables run deep into the interior, and the wood tones made the whole place feel neat and put together. When we went, there were lots of people having dinner too.

It says they opened on July 22, and maybe because it’s new, everything from the tableware to the entire restaurant felt brand-new and super clean ✨

Photos of the signature dishes are posted by the entrance too. Seeing them in photos makes choosing so much easier!

Yukhwang uses 1++ grade Korean beef, apparently. The menu is centered on Korean beef dishes, from gomtang and boiled beef hot pot to several kinds of yukhoe.

Ordering boiled beef hot pot and yukhoe bibimbap
We ordered the boiled beef hot pot, yukhoe bibimbap, and yukhoe ❗️

After we ordered, they set out the side dishes first. They’re all great with the meat, and even the seokbakji (cubed radish kimchi) isn’t simply brought in—they make it fresh themselves every day!! Such a good match for the boiled beef 👍

You can totally tell everything feels brand-new, right?

Soy sauce-based Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap
The yukhoe bibimbap came out first! It came with clear broth, and that was tasty too. I definitely need to try the gomtang next time. There was seriously so much yukhoe and vegetables!!

Yukhwang’s yukhoe bibimbap is soy sauce-based and uses Korean beef round. Rather than being mixed with a red gochujang (Korean chili paste) sauce, it lets the yukhoe flavor come through more, and it was so good!! It arrives already seasoned, so you just have to mix it up! The portion is huge 🫢

The vegetables were fresh, and the yukhoe was fresh too.

Clear boiled beef hot pot with brisket and shank
And finally, the boiled beef hot pot. The pot was piled high with boiled beef, along with mushrooms and vegetables like scallions and napa cabbage 🤤🤤

The hot pot comes with Korean beef brisket and shank, and since they’re different cuts, their textures felt a little different too!

+ Kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) noodles. You don’t need to order them separately—they’re included.

We’d driven over, so we weren’t planning to drink, but the moment we took a bite, we immediately ordered soju, haha.

First, pick up a piece of meat and eat it.

This seems like another cut—it was less fatty and nicely nutty.

My favorite was piling the boiled beef, mung bean sprouts, and mushrooms together in one bite like this. Hot pot really is best when you pick up a bit of everything together, haha.

Meat wrap 😋

Kalguksu noodles in that broth, deeply flavored with meat and vegetables, are honestly everything 👏 After this, we added another serving of noodles and had them one more time, haha.

The meat quality was so good that we ordered mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef) too!! Today is a meat party 🎉

Dip it in sesame oil and… it’s insane. In the end, the two of us finished three bottles of soju.

My Korean beef dinner at Yukhwang
- The yukhoe bibimbap was full of vegetables and generous with yukhoe too.
- The boiled beef hot pot was loaded with Korean beef brisket and shank, mushrooms, and vegetables.
- Its clear broth is great for keeping the pot going, and the finishing kalguksu is a must.
- The house-made seokbakji was a perfect match for the hot pot too.
- Since it’s a new restaurant, everything from the tableware to the entire space was incredibly clean.
Next time, I’d like to try the gomtang or yukhoe mulhoe that I missed this time, haha. I think I’ll visit Yukhwang again when I’m craving Korean beef in Gasan!
