How long is the wait, and how many private rooms does Dongbaek have?

When we visited there was a wait, and we were third in line, but since the place is big it cleared up faster than expected. Definitely a Gimhae favorite worth waiting for, huh.

The interior and atmosphere at Dongbaek were perfect, and it was great that everything came out at once 😍😍

What does Dongbaek's raw-meat ganjajang taste like?

Dongbaek's ganjajang is quite special as their signature dish — the meat in it is actually raw meat! Because it's raw, the flavor is rich, and you can really taste the smoky char, plus the portion is generous.

There's plenty of onion and meat, so mixing it with the noodles gives good texture — salty with a rising sweetness, finishing with a nutty note. It was so good I almost ordered a bowl of rice too... lol

Dongbaek's ganjajang with chunky raw meat

The chunky raw meat pieces really stood out, and it definitely had richer, smokier flavor than regular jjajangmyeon.

The mini kkanpunggi that comes with the set

The mini kkanpunggi in the set had a generous portion. Crispy fried chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce!! Crispy outside, moist inside — the textbook definition of that texture. The sauce wasn't overly strong or sweet, and the subtle spiciness paired nicely with the vegetables.

Jumbo seafood jjamppong: the broth and the noodles

Dongbaek's jumbo seafood jjamppong is loaded not just with mussels, squid, and blue crab but also clams, abalone, sea cucumber, and shrimp — a generous, varied mix that made me glad we chose it.

Jumbo seafood jjamppong loaded with seafood

The broth was spicy yet light, with zero greasiness — clean. The bright, refreshing flavor from the seafood rather than meat is what made the seafood jjamppong broth so appealing!

Jjamppong noodles lifted from the bowl

Even with noodles in it, it wasn't heavy at all and sat light on the stomach~ The noodles were chewy too, and finishing it off with the broth made for a refreshing meal.

With everything from jjajangmyeon to full courses, plus private rooms and convenient parking, this was a great spot for family meals or gatherings.
