Today I'm sharing a review of Sushi Hwa, a flame-seared sushi specialist I stopped by with my partner during a date in Bongri-dan-gil, Gimhae, known as a good sushi spot in the area~~!!😉😉

Inside Sushi Hwa in Bongri-dan-gil: atmosphere and seating

Sushi Hwa is a flame-seared sushi restaurant located in Bongri-dan-gil, Bonghwang-dong, Gimhae. The kitchen is semi-open, and the interior had a clean yet cozy vibe!

They have a good mix of seating — solo-friendly counter seats and group tables for 2 to 6!🤭🤭

What comes in the Sushi Hwa Flame-Seared Sushi Set: 27 pieces

Our order arrives!!! The Sushi Hwa Bulchobap Set with salad, choice of two (udon or soba), and 27 pieces of flame-seared sushi!!🤗🤗

There was a refreshing yuzu-sauce salad, and the classics that pair perfectly with sushi — wasabi, pickled radish, ginger — plus blueberries for dessert!!!!!

The flame-seared sushi included salmon, shrimp, beef, squid, egg, fried tofu (yubu), and scallop sushi!

The big plate had 17 pieces on it in total!

As the smoky flame aroma spread, the soft sushi melted in our mouths — totally the kind of flavor that's hard to dislike!!! Felt like even kids would eat this up easily!!!! The shrimp in particular wasn't thin at all — thick and pretty large, so good!!! The scallop sushi was sneakily delicious too, a real MVP!!!👍👍👍

Sushi you can eat even if you can't eat raw fish

I recently had some surgery-related issues, so I've been a bit careful about raw fish, but Sushi Hwa's flame-seared sushi is cooked with a deep smoky aroma, so I could eat it worry-free! This menu seems perfect for anyone with health concerns like mine, or who just can't do raw fish sashimi and the like!!!😉😉

The cold soba and udon included in the set

The Sushi Hwa Bulchobap Set lets you choose cold soba or udon, and we picked one of each!!! I thought it would come out as small side-dish portions since it's part of a set, but each came out as a full individual bowl!!!

The chewy soba noodles came with a refreshingly cool broth, so good!!!! Taking a sip of the broth between bites of sushi really helped everything go down smoothly!!👍

The warm udon had fish cake (eomuk) and crown daisy (ssukgat) in it too!! A truly proper bowl of udon..!!!!!🤭🤭

Eating a comforting bowl of udon after all that was so satisfying..!!!!! I think kids would eat this up happily too!! And the portion is plenty generous for two — this is definitely a great-value sushi set!!!!😉😉😉
