Yeongdeungpo izakaya for shrimp head fry and Asahi: Snack Bar Atashi
In short
Snack Bar Atashi Dangsan Station Main Branch is a Japanese-style izakaya about a 10-minute walk from Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. After a first round of gopchang (grilled beef intestines), the writer moved on to Snack Bar Atashi for a second round at the counter seats, ordering in-season raw shrimp sashimi with battered shrimp head fry, a bottle of Asahi and Saero soju served in a Wolgyegwan sake cup. It is an easy, satisfying snack-and-drink combo for a light second stop.

Snack Bar Atashi Dangsan Station Main Branch #DangsanIzakaya #DangsanBar #DangsanRawShrimpSashimi

I had gopchang (grilled beef intestines) for my first round near Dangsan Station in the evening, and while looking for somewhere simple for a second-round drink, I ended up at Atashi Dangsan Station Main Branch 🎏 The moment I walked in, the Japanese vibe hit hard — it really felt like being at a local izakaya in Japan >.< I sat at the counter that day and had in-season raw shrimp sashimi with a drink, and it was so good that I have to leave an honest review.

A 10-minute walk from Dangsan Station, with outdoor seats out front

📍 It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Dangsan Station, and this is the most authentic Japanese izakaya vibe around. The exterior alone gives off strong Japanese energy — the perfect atmosphere for a drink.

True to outdoor-drinking season, there's outdoor seating set up right at the entrance! I went inside myself, but this could be useful for anyone near Dangsan looking for outdoor seats.
Inside Snack Bar Atashi: counter seats and group tables

The atmosphere completely changes once you step inside. Thanks to the Japanese-style props and interior, the whole place has a strong local izakaya feel ♥ Sitting there, I actually got a little giddy — it felt like I was on a trip to Japan 🇯🇵

There were also group tables that seat about 4-6 people. It looked like a great spot to come with a group of friends, order a bunch of snacks, and drink together!

I'm a counter-seat lover... 🤭 so of course I sat at the counter again today haha. Looking under the counter, there was storage space for bags or coats. It was nice not having to put my bag on the floor or drape it over my chair ♥
What to order for round two: in-season raw shrimp sashimi with head fry

I looked through the menu too — there was a lot that looked delicious, but since I'd already eaten a lot, I went with something relatively light and in season: shrimp. Raw shrimp sashimi + head fry 🍤
✔️ The head fry has to be requested together with the first order. You can't say 'fry the heads' after you've already finished eating 🙅🏻♀️

For drinks, I ordered a bottle of Asahi beer 🍺 Once you're at an izakaya, an ice-cold Japanese beer is a must, right? 🫢

On the wall I noticed they'd won the Suntory Highball Meister 100 award two years in a row (2025, 2026) — I'll have to try a highball next time!! ✔️ They also run a free-flow drinks (nomihodai) option. If you drink a lot, I'd recommend it >.< Available on both weekdays and weekends.

We toasted with Asahi 🍻 The food hadn't even come out yet, but the atmosphere was so good I couldn't wait ^_ㅠ
Is the raw shrimp sashimi better with soy sauce?

The raw shrimp sashimi and head fry arrived at the same time! Coming out together, the visual was on point 😳 The raw shrimp looked plump and the head fry looked crispy — the kind of combo that makes you think of beer just looking at it ♥

In video you can see the plump raw shrimp and crispy-fried heads even better >.< Maybe because it's in season, the shrimp were a good size too and everything looked appetizing overall!!!

I picked up a piece of raw shrimp first — being in season, it was plump and firm! So delicious ㅜ.ㅜㅜ The chewy texture and the shrimp's natural sweetness really came through, genuinely great. If you like raw shrimp sashimi, I'd recommend it while it's in season!!!

You can see in the photos how plump the shrimp are haha. The meat felt densely packed, so each bite had good texture — firm and chewy, exactly the taste of in-season food >.<

I switched from beer to Saero halfway through haha. Instead of just a regular soju glass, they served it in a Wolgyegwan sake cup, which matched the izakaya mood perfectly!
Dip the raw shrimp lightly in soy sauce >.< The shrimp itself is sweet and delicious enough that chogochujang (vinegared chili paste) works too, but soy sauce was actually tastier.

Can't skip the shrimp heart 🦐🫶 It's basically an unwritten rule when eating shrimp, right?! Making a heart out of two plump shrimp made it look even more delicious!!! Done.
Battered shrimp head fry: salty and made for beer

The shrimp head fry I'd been looking forward to! Unlike the usual shrimp head fry, here it's coated in batter before frying, which made it feel different.

Up close you can see the batter fried crisp!!! It tasted amazing when I tried it. Not to exaggerate, but it was maybe the best shrimp head fry I've ever had ♥
That said, it was on the salty side, but that was fine since it's a beer snack >.< ㅋㅋ Crispy and salty, so a sip of beer and a bite of head fry kept my hand reaching back for more — pure magic!
Final verdict: is Snack Bar Atashi worth a second round near Dangsan Station?

Overall, this place had such a strong Japanese izakaya vibe that it felt like being on a trip to Japan, making it a great spot for a drink. From the plump in-season raw shrimp sashimi to the crispy, salty head fry — I enjoyed every single dish ♥ If you're looking for an izakaya with a great atmosphere near Dangsan Station for a first or second round, I'd recommend Snack Bar Atashi!!!
