I tend to prefer a full set spread where you can enjoy a variety of side dishes over a simple one-dish meal, so I went in with high expectations.

To cut to the conclusion: with rice, side dishes and a soup dish all on the table, it was a pretty filling meal.

What we ordered: Tteuranchae Bapsang for two plus charcoal-grilled pork

This time we ordered the Tteuranchae Bapsang set for two and added charcoal-grilled pork.

As dishes were laid out one by one, the table filled up quickly. I liked that this wasn't just a plain rice meal but a spread where you could enjoy many side dishes together.

Table filled up with an abundant spread of side dishes

With so many kinds of side dishes, it was fun tasting them one by one, and since many of them paired well with rice, my chopsticks kept reaching for more.

Warm stone-pot rice and savory cheonggukjang

What I especially liked about the set was the warm stone-pot rice. Scooping out freshly cooked rice to eat with the side dishes made the rice taste even better than usual.

After finishing most of the meal, they poured water into the pot to make sungnyung. It was savory and warm, a satisfying way to finish off the meal.

We also had cheonggukjang alongside — its rich, savory flavor went well with the rice.

Among all the side dishes, it was the kind of dish that kept resetting your palate, good for a spoonful here and there.

How much does the charcoal pork add to the table?

The charcoal-grilled pork we added to this meal was also not to be missed.

Grilled over charcoal, it had a subtle smoky aroma, and it went great with rice. Adding meat on top of the side dishes made the table feel even more abundant.

Piling the charcoal pork on top of the warm stone-pot rice along with the side dishes, a whole bowl of rice disappeared fast.

Tasting a little of each side dish while adding bites of charcoal pork in between gave a different kind of satisfaction than eating just one dish.
