Goyang sundae soup restaurant, breakfast before Hanyang CC: Gohyangok

Today's find is Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch 😁 Honestly, I've been going to the original Gohyangok location since way back when I was younger, haha (the original branch is in Ilsan 🥰) — I never thought they'd grow into a nationwide chain...!!!! It really is that good 🤣

This particular Wondang branch turned out to be a great sundae soup (blood sausage soup) place for a hearty breakfast near Seooreung when heading out early toward Seoul Hanyang CC or Hanyang Pine CC.

That's the biggest point about the Wondang branch! It's not just a place to grab a bowl of sundae soup — it's genuinely worth remembering if you're looking for a breakfast spot near the Seooreung golf courses in Goyang 😄

Where is Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch, and is there parking?

Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch is on the 1st floor at 1578 Goyang-daero, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, near Seongsa-dong and Seooreung. There's space to park right in front of the restaurant, which made it easy to come by car.

When I first arrived, the building was bigger than I expected, so it was easy to spot from a distance. And as you can see in the photo, there's parking space right in front.

Since golf days almost always mean driving, it was great not having to worry about parking first thing in the morning. So if you're searching for good restaurants in Deogyang-gu, Goyang and also want somewhere with easy parking, this was a solid option. Especially for early morning rounds, since you have to get from breakfast back to the course, that kind of convenient flow really matters 😘

The self-bar that quietly matters at a sundae soup restaurant

One side of the Wondang branch has a self-bar set up. There's kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), peppers, onion, garlic, and other side dishes that go well with sundae soup, so you can help yourself to more anytime you run out!

At a soup-and-rice restaurant, the kimchi has to be good!>< No matter how tasty the broth is, if the kimchi is mediocre, it's kind of a letdown... Gohyangok seems to manage its chain locations well,

because the kimchi tastes consistently good wherever you go, and especially that white kimchi pairs perfectly with the spicy sundae soup 😆

Gohyangok Wondang Branch menu and how to order

You order at Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch using the tablet at your table, and the menu options are more extensive than you'd expect!

You can just order the soup on its own, but personally the set that comes with a bit of sundae (blood sausage) and bossam (boiled pork) caught my eye 👀 Ah, this set is pretty great...!! You know that feeling when just one bowl of soup feels like not quite enough, but ordering a full plate of boiled pork feels like too much? This combo is a nice in-between.

So if you're looking for a sundae soup restaurant in Wondang or nearby Wonheung with a wide menu selection, this could be worth keeping in mind. We ordered the mild sundae soup bossam set and the spicy sundae soup bossam set 😆

Mild sundae soup: not spicy, packed with ingredients

Gohyangok's mild sundae soup arrives piping hot in a stone pot, and true to its name, it's not spicy at all. It's topped with plenty of chives, and there's a good amount of meat and other ingredients inside too.

Doesn't it already look super filling for breakfast just from the visual? Haha

When I go for soup and rice, I'm a little disappointed if it's mostly broth with barely any ingredients ㅠㅠ The mild sundae soup was absolutely loaded with ingredients — felt like an extra-large size compared to other sundae soup places!

The mild sundae soup really lived up to its name — not spicy at all, haha, very mild and completely clean without any gamey smell!

I added the somyeon noodles in too and ate it all together 😆 Having that hot broth first thing in the morning really felt like it hit the spot, phew 😘

The sundae and bossam that come with the set

The sundae bossam set at Gohyangok Wondang Branch comes in a wooden steamer lined with bean sprouts and chives, topped with bossam and sundae together. The combination turned out to be way better than expected.

It looked pretty appetizing from the start. Usually when ordering a side, you have to decide between bossam or sundae, but here they just come together!!!😍

The bossam paired with bean sprouts and chives was much better than eating the meat plain, and the sundae was good on its own but even more filling eaten with the soup broth.

With the soup plus these sides, there was no sense of not having enough food. If you eat a bit more for breakfast, or want to eat really heartily before golf, going for the set seems like a good idea.

How does Gohyangok work as breakfast near Seooreung and Hanyang CC?

If you're looking for breakfast around Seooreung, I could introduce Gohyangok Eolkeun Sundaeguk Wondang Branch as a soup restaurant worth a special trip for lunch, but personally it felt like it fit better as a breakfast spot.

On a day when you're heading out early near Seooreung, or going golfing near Seoul Hanyang CC or Hanyang Pine CC, and thinking 'where should we eat before we go?' — this is a good place to grab a warm bowl of sundae soup before heading out 🩷

Also, a lot of people planning a day around Goyang look for good restaurants near Starfield or IKEA, but on days when you'd rather have a solid Korean meal on the move instead of eating inside the mall, a soup restaurant like this could be a pretty good option.
