Lunch special hanwoo pork BBQ marinated set at Sujeong Galbi in Seongsa-dong, Goyang

When eating out with kids, taste matters, but so does easy parking and wide seating. This time we went to Sujeong Galbi in Seongsa-dong, Goyang.

Where is Sujeong Galbi, and where do you park?

Sujeong Galbi is located on Heungdo-ro in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, and there's parking right in front, which made it convenient to visit by car.

Customers already dining at Sujeong Galbi during an early lunch

Even though we went for a slightly early lunch, there were already customers eating, and by the time we finished our meal, quite a few tables had filled up. There seemed to be golfers stopping by for a meal, likely because of nearby golf courses, and plenty of families too.

Roomy seating that makes family dining easy

Spacious dining hall at Sujeong Galbi with generous table spacing

Once inside, the seating was wider than I expected, with tables set generously apart. When eating with two kids, a roomy spot like this is definitely more comfortable than a cramped table.

They also had kids' dishes and chairs ready, so we didn't need to bring our own.

Going to a BBQ restaurant with kids can sometimes be a hassle because of chairs or dishes, so having these things ready made it feel like a solid choice for family dining.

The lunch special: marinated Korean pork grill set

We ordered the hanwoo pork BBQ marinated set from the lunch special menu. Sujeong Galbi's lunch specials are divided into hanwoo pork BBQ marinated, small marinated beef short ribs, and Sujeong pork BBQ marinated — and the hanwoo pork BBQ marinated set was great because it let us enjoy meat and a full meal together at lunch. The lunch special lets you pick choice 1 or 2, deciding between naengmyeon (cold noodles) or rice with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).

Mul naengmyeon served as the lunch special meal choice

We ordered one rice + doenjang jjigae and one mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth). It's not just meat and done — you also get a full meal item, which made the whole thing feel pretty substantial for one sitting.

Side dishes: japchae, seasoned crab and salad

Before the meat even arrived, there was already a wide variety of side dishes set out.

From japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) to seasoned crab and salad, there were so many side dishes it was fun trying them one by one. When you're out with kids, whether there are side dishes to eat with rice besides the meat matters more than you'd think.

Our kids ate the meat well, and they ate a good amount of the side dishes too, so for once feeding the kids at a restaurant was easy.

Since our kids especially like meat, we ordered the pork BBQ marinated, and the seasoning had soaked in well, so it was easy to feed them along with rice. If you're looking for a Seongsa-dong restaurant to visit with kids, this kind of thing really matters.

Finishing with cold mul naengmyeon noodles

Cool mul naengmyeon served alongside the meat

After eating meat, you inevitably start thinking about naengmyeon at the end, haha. We ordered one mul naengmyeon to have alongside the meat. After the meat, a cool bite of noodles really cleans up your palate — the meat-and-naengmyeon combo is truly essential.

One of us had a hearty rice-and-doenjang-jjigae meal while the other finished with naengmyeon, so even with kids, everyone could pick what they wanted to eat.

Self-serve sikhye for dessert

After finishing the meal, we didn't just walk out — there was also a self-serve dessert available.

Sikhye (sweet rice punch) was set out for dessert, and one cup was sweet and cool, perfect for cleansing the palate after the meal. The restaurant also sells a 1.5L bottle of sikhye for ₩5,000, so if you want some at home, it's worth grabbing a bottle. Being able to wrap up the meal so naturally with dessert included was a nice little touch.

Is Sujeong Galbi worth it for a family lunch in Goyang?

Parking space available right in front of Sujeong Galbi

The most convenient part of this visit was, once again, the parking. When you're moving around with kids and a car, a place with inconvenient parking makes you hesitant to return no matter how good the food is — but at Sujeong Galbi, we could park right in front and go in and out with ease.
