In short

Baekseok Kkogijip is a marinated Korean pork BBQ restaurant near Baekseok Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi, where the kitchen grills the meat and carries it out to the table already cooked. On an early-evening visit after a hospital appointment, the order was the raw meat mixed platter for two (samgyeopsal and pork neck, 360g, 49,000 won) with kimchi stew and an extra portion of ramyeon noodles, plus the review-event patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans) at the end. I stopped by Baekseok Kkogijip, located near Baekseok Station.

Maybe because it was so hot out, I found myself craving meat that's already grilled for me rather than cooking it over a hot flame myself. Baekseok Kkogijip grills the samgyeopsal (pork belly) nicely and brings it right to the table — let's go eat some samgyeopsal!

The lunch menu was posted. Kimchi stew, country-style doenjang stew, and iced naengmyeon (cold noodles) are all ₩8,000, and the kimchi stew comes with unlimited ramyeon noodles as a bonus! Yukhoe naengmyeon is ₩12,000, and yukhoe bibimbap is ₩10,000. Would be great for lunch too.

What Baekseok Kkogijip is like in the early evening

Since I was coming from the hospital, it was a bit of an early dinner time, but the place felt less like a typical samgyeopsal spot and more like a regular restaurant. Completely comfortable and pleasant. A little after 6pm, a lot of nearby office workers started coming in for dinner.

There's a summer review event running for old-style patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans). Seems like it'd be a popular menu item in this hot summer.

The raw meat platter for two: how the kitchen-grilled service works

I ordered the raw meat mixed platter for two. When you order, the staff grill the meat directly in the back kitchen, so you just sit and wait at the table — no meat smell, no smoke, and you get to enjoy delicious meat comfortably. I really like that about this place.

This is the basic setup at this Baekseok restaurant. If you order a set menu, you get a yukhoe (raw beef) starter, and the portion is generous.

The side dishes are also neat and clean, so you can comfortably enjoy the pre-grilled meat — great for families with kids too. Also good for friend gatherings or work dinners. Since the meat comes already grilled, it's easier to talk while eating, and I like that you don't have to worry about the smell soaking into your clothes.

As I served it onto a plate and ate it, I found myself wanting to try the yukhoe bibimbap next time. It'd make a great lunch option too.

360g of samgyeopsal and pork neck, kept hot at the table

A little later, the nicely grilled meat came out. Since it's the raw meat mixed platter for two, it's 360g of samgyeopsal and pork neck — a generous amount for two people.

It stays warm so you can enjoy it deliciously down to the very last piece of samgyeopsal, and since you don't have to grill it yourself, it's completely convenient.

You can choose between pork bone soup and kimchi stew — I asked for kimchi stew, and it came out completely generous.

Kimchi stew with ramyeon noodles added~~~ Totally hearty! This is exactly what makes this Baekseok samgyeopsal spot great!!!

Adding ramyeon noodles into the bubbling kimchi stew is just the best! The pork chunks in the kimchi stew are also nice and thick.

Wrapping it all in lettuce until the very end, this samgyeopsal and kimchi stew combo is really delicious!

Review event dessert: old-style patbingsu

After eating a hearty meal at this Baekseok samgyeopsal spot, I was full, but I still can't resist patbingsu! I paid and wrote the review right away. I expected the review-event patbingsu to come in a small cup, but it turned out to be completely generous too. Definitely try the patbingsu.

Verdict: Goyang Korean BBQ without the smoke

This Baekseok samgyeopsal spot grills the meat for you, so you can enjoy it comfortably without worrying about the smell. Because the meat is grilled and brought straight to the table, you can enjoy delicious meat in a pleasant setting free of smoke and smell. Families with kids can relax and enjoy good meat, and it's also a great spot to chat over a beer with coworkers. Since it's already grilled for you, it's the best!
