This is a huge Korean restaurant, about 660 m² (200 pyeong), with private rooms and open, airy window seats. The neat, tidy basic side dishes came in such variety, it was perfect for picking whatever suited your taste.

On top of that, being able to enjoy unlimited handmade banchan made with seasonal ingredients right at the restaurant was so satisfying ʕ•̬͡•ʕ•̫͡•♥

If you ran low on side dishes while eating, you could easily go get more — I felt how much thought had gone into taking care of guests!

The siraegi-guk (dried radish green soup) served as a default was rich and savory — the kind of flavor that kept me reaching for more.

What does the 400°C wood-fired mackerel and hot pot rice taste like?

While I was enjoying the basic side dishes, out came the wood-fired grilled mackerel aged in nuruk salt.

Wood-fired mackerel aged in nuruk salt

At Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch, where you can try premium grilled fish made with low-sodium nuruk salt, I really felt the quality of the fish stood out!

Close-up of the wood-fired grilled mackerel

✔️ Apparently the mackerel is grilled for 5 minutes in a 400°C wood-fired oven, and the nuruk salt used is packed with beneficial microbes from nutrient-rich rice nuruk.

The piping hot stone-pot rice served alongside was another highlight — you even get to enjoy the crispy scorched rice at the bottom, so with the mackerel, rice, and side dishes together, it's a hearty spread I'd highly recommend for family visits ⭐️

In particular, putting mackerel on rice with a bit of dried seaweed and dipping it in soy sauce was an absolute rice thief — I couldn't stop eating.

Eating the plump, savory mackerel dipped in nuruk salt together with rice was so delicious — I think even kids would love this dish!

I also liked that each partitioned table had its own blind for a private dining experience, and baby chairs were placed all around ♥

Finishing with rice cakes, drinks and coffee

For dessert, they brought out warm, sweet rice cakes.

On the way out, there was a whole variety of drinks and coffee set up, so there was no need to stop by a café separately — such a satisfying meal 👍🏻 I really felt the mindset of Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch, running the place with the attitude of taking care of their guests — a true Daegu hanjeongsik favorite ʕ•̬͡•ʕ•̫͡•♥
