Late-night gopchang bar in Daegu with pot ramyeon: Miso Gopchang

In short

Miso Gopchang Wolseong is a Korean beef gopchang and daechang grill bar in front of Maeulmadang Park in Wolseong-dong, Dalseo, Daegu. A couple dropped in late on a weeknight after a workout and ordered the Miso Modeum mixed platter, which came with a complimentary Tongyeong abalone and clam soup, then finished with perilla oil kimchi fried rice, ramyeon cooked in a pot and a soft-serve ice cream for dessert. Open until midnight (1am on Friday and Saturday), Miso Gopchang Wolseong works well as a late first stop of the night.

I heard there was a real hotspot for gopchang and daechang in Wolseong-dong these days, so I went to check it out. We visited on a weeknight late in the evening after finishing our workout, and the place was still bustling with customers right up until closing! Let me introduce this spot where the atmosphere, taste, and service were all on point.

Where is Miso Gopchang Wolseong and what are its hours?

Miso Gopchang Wolseong is located at 187 Sangwon-ro, 1st floor, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, right in front of Maeulmadang Park next to the Twosome Place building.

What is the bar like inside?

Walking into Miso Gopchang Wolseong, I noticed the upscale lighting, stylish wallpaper, and retro touches — clearly a lot of thought went into the interior. It felt comfortable yet had a great vibe, which would also make it a nice date spot.

What's on the menu at Miso Gopchang Wolseong?

The main menu features daechang (beef large intestine), gopchang (beef small intestine), makchang (beef rectum), and beef heart, plus a Miso Modeum mixed platter for those who, like us, want to try a bit of everything.

There was also a wide range of extra toppings — potato, enoki mushroom, chives, cheese, sausage, rice cake sticks, and more.

The side menu was impressive too — from Tongyeong abalone clam soup (you can add kalguksu noodles) to perilla oil steamed egg, perilla oil kimchi fried rice, Gunwi village doenjang rice, cheese buldak noodles, and nabe ramyeon. So many delicious-looking options.

There was also a helpful guide on how to eat everything for the best taste.

It turns out they use only fresh Korean beef cuts slaughtered the same day in Gunwi! They prep everything by hand daily and even age it in milk, so of course it's going to taste great. Maybe that's why it was so much nuttier and softer in texture than other gopchang places.

The basic side dishes and sauces also came out neatly and cleanly arranged.

While waiting for our food, we also tried the nostalgic claw machine game set up in the restaurant!

Unfortunately my husband lost at rock-paper-scissors and we lost all our coins, but it brought back memories and he had so much fun that the night started off on a great note.

The free Tongyeong abalone and clam soup

After all that playing around, the complimentary Tongyeong abalone clam soup arrived!

At first I thought there might be just one or two abalones in it, but there were a whopping four, along with plenty of clams.

The bite-sized abalone had an amazing chewy texture, and picking the clams out of their shells was fun too. But above all, the broth was so spicy and refreshing... it was the perfect drinking companion, the kind of taste that makes you want a drink right away. I felt like we'd really found the right gopchang bar in Wolseong-dong to start our night.

Miso Modeum: daechang, gopchang, makchang and beef heart on one grill

Finally, the Miso Modeum we'd been waiting for arrived!

Daechang, gopchang, makchang, and beef heart filled the grill, topped generously with enoki mushroom, chives, potato, and cheese — it made my mouth water just looking at it.

The owner kindly cut everything into bite-sized pieces and placed them on our plate! Tip: eat the beef heart first, since it gets tough if grilled too long.

Following that tip, we filled our glasses with cold beer, said cheers, and dove right into a full-on eating frenzy.

The beef heart, daechang, makchang, and gopchang were all delicious without exception. There were also several different sauces to dip into, so we never got tired of the flavors switching between them. Personally, the nutty richness of the gopchang and daechang was seriously incredible. If you're looking for good gopchang at a bar in Wolseong-dong, you have to try the Miso Modeum!

Finishing with perilla oil kimchi fried rice and ramyeon in a pot

Even though we were full, we couldn't resist the side dishes! We ordered extra perilla oil kimchi fried rice and nabe ramyeon.

Spicy nabe ramyeon ordered as a finishing dish

We pressed the fried rice onto the hot stone plate until it formed a crispy crust — nutty and spicy, it's a flavor I'd definitely recommend.

We debated between the doenjang rice and the nabe ramyeon, and the ramyeon we ended up ordering was the perfect finish, cutting through the greasiness with a clean, spicy kick! (Next time I'll definitely have to try the doenjang rice too!)

Soft-serve ice cream to end the night

I thought the whole meal was over, but there was one real finishing touch left — soft-serve ice cream! We happily ate a scoop inside the restaurant, then grabbed another on our way out and enjoyed it while walking home. Perfect service, right down to the last dessert.

From start to finish, we ate really well and generously at Miso Gopchang Wolseong, a fantastic gopchang spot at a Wolseong-dong bar! I think that nutty gopchang flavor is going to come to mind again soon, and my husband and I will probably be back. If you're looking for truly delicious gopchang in Wolseong-dong, I highly recommend giving this place a visit!
