Asan brunch café with baby-friendly table for 4: When You Bite

In short

When You Bite is a white-toned brunch café in Tangjeong, Asan, near a new-town apartment complex. Visiting with babies, four dishes were shared — truffle French fries without the truffle oil, eggs Benedict, Mediterranean pasta and jambon cream pasta — alongside coffee and milk tea. Baby dishware, high chairs and generously spaced tables made this repeat visit an easy one for a brunch gathering with kids.

On clear, sunny days, a relaxed brunch is always the first thing that comes to mind. This was a place whose comfortable vibe had stuck with me since my first visit, and this time I wanted to properly try the other signature menu items I'd been curious about — so I went back to When You Bite in Tangjeong.

Easy to find in Tangjeong

When You Bite sits near a new-town apartment complex close to Tangjeong Station, so getting there is really convenient. The surroundings aren't crowded, and the tidy, modern facade typical of new commercial buildings makes it easy to spot from a distance. Parking was easy too — you can use the public lot right in front of or beside the store, or the roadside line in the nearby alley, which made driving over pretty painless.

Step inside and a calm white base washes the whole space in soft natural light coming through the full-height windows.

Instead of over-decorating, there's a clean mood with plenty of negative space, which makes it easy to focus fully on the meal.

The tables are spaced generously, making the layout comfortable both for a cozy date for two and for a relaxed brunch gathering with a few friends.

Four orders that filled the table

This is When You Bite's menu board. On this visit I ordered a solid line-up of four dishes, each with a distinct charm and no overlap — truffle French fries, eggs Benedict, Mediterranean pasta and jambon cream pasta.

We also came with babies, and the staff prepared dishware matching the number of babies with us — I really appreciated that!

French fries without the truffle oil

Crispy fried truffle French fries — I asked to skip the truffle oil since these were meant for the babies! Not overly salty, crisp outside and fluffy inside, they were perfect for picking at while waiting for the mains or nibbling alongside the meal.

Jambon cream pasta

The thinly sliced, savory jambon paired with a thick, rich cream sauce made for a great combination.

The sauce clung to the noodles instead of pooling separately, so the nutty richness came through heavy from the first bite! It was delicious enough that even the kids ate it happily.

Eggs Benedict

The eggs Benedict, new to me this time, felt like a textbook example of what brunch should be. When I cut into the poached egg with a knife, the yolk ran out and soaked naturally into the moist bread and soft sauce.

The balance between the rich, nutty hollandaise sauce and the fresh ingredients was so good that it was easy to see why this is a popular dish.

Mediterranean pasta

Fresh seafood came together cleanly with the olive oil base. There was no heaviness, the aftertaste was refreshing, and the noodles were cooked just right — a great fit for anyone who enjoys the clean, savory taste of oil-based pasta. The fish on top was also tender with zero fishy smell, so I really enjoyed it.

Open, bright lighting, a tidy interior, and a pasta line-up that holds its own as a proper meal — this repeat visit had it all and left me satisfied!

Two drinks served alongside the brunch

This time I also tried the coffee and milk tea alongside the brunch dishes.

A cup of coffee at When You Bite

The coffee wasn't too acidic — nutty and clean, it nicely washed away the richness of the cream pasta and fries,

A cup of milk tea that isn't overly sweet

and the smooth, fragrant milk tea wasn't overly sweet, blending in gently without overpowering the flavors of the brunch. With the drinks holding up this well too, the whole meal felt even more satisfying.

Whether it's a light brunch date or a relaxed catch-up with friends over a few shared dishes, if you're looking for a Tangjeong brunch café spot, I'd really recommend trying the fragrant eggs Benedict, the pasta, and a good drink at When You Bite.
