Weekend lunch braised pollock near Bongcheon Station: Sangdo Neulbori
In short
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a Korean restaurant serving kodari jorim (braised half-dried pollock) at 379 Bongcheon-ro in Gwanak, Seoul, a 4-minute walk from Bongcheon Station Exit 5. Two of us arrived at noon on a weekend and ordered the small siraegi kodari jorim (braised pollock with dried radish greens) with 2 bowls of rice, which came with free egg custard, pollock seaweed soup and daily side dishes. The pollock was plump with no fishy smell and a savory sauce, making Sangdo Neulbori an easy choice for a meal with parents or family.

Last night I was falling asleep when I suddenly, desperately wanted really good kodari (braised pollock). So I lay there searching for kodari restaurants and remembered a place I'd wanted to try for ages — and went straight there!
Where is it, you ask? Sangdo Neulbori.

Where is Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch, and is there parking?
Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is a 4-minute walk from Exit 5 of Bongcheon Station. There's parking right in front of the restaurant! But the lot is small, so I'd recommend calling ahead to check.
The building is big, so it's easy to spot even from a distance!

There's a parking area right next to the restaurant that looked like it fits maybe 3–4 cars. So definitely call ahead to check!!
Sangdo Neulbori at noon on a weekend: is there a wait?
The interior of Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch is clean. It's not huge, but it was really packed. I went at noon on a weekend, and I think if I'd been even a bit later I would've had to wait!

A lot of parents seemed to be here for get-togethers! Kodari really is a dish older folks love haha. And so many families were coming in too!
If you need wifi or a restroom, they're both here.

What we ordered: small siraegi kodari jorim and 2 bowls of rice
Here's the menu. Sangdo Neulbori Bongcheon Station Branch doesn't just do kodari — they also have jjukkumi (baby octopus)!

There were two of us, so we ordered the small siraegi kodari jorim and two bowls of rice. Personally, I think the kodari with siraegi is even tastier than the plain version haha. If you order bibimbap, you make it yourself at the self-service bar!

Free side dishes, pollock seaweed soup and egg custard at Sangdo Neulbori
When you order kodari, the side dishes come out like this! Seems like they change daily.

The seaweed soup here isn't a regular seaweed soup — it's pollock seaweed soup, apparently. So the broth is way more refreshing. And they said egg custard comes free as standard too. That's a total win.

The egg custard isn't salty at all, seasoned just right, and so smooth. I almost ordered a second one while eating it, ㄷㄷㄷㄷ.
How does the siraegi kodari jorim taste? Plump, clean-tasting pollock
Ta-daa~~~~ the siraegi kodari jorim came out fast.

It has siraegi, kodari, radish, potato, and rice cake in it! Looks so appetizing, right~? I don't think I've seen a place that gives this much siraegi.
I was starving so let's dig in right away~ Wow,,,, can you see how plump the kodari is? I've had kodari jorim recently, but this is the first time I've seen such meaty pollock.

The meat is so, so plump, right? Let me take a bite. Crunch.

Wow,,,,,, even the flesh is well seasoned, so it's not bland at all!! And there's zero smell. (Well, a faint fish smell, sure, but the sauce is so good you barely notice.) Now let's put kodari, radish, and siraegi on rice and take a bite~

Wow,,,, this is insanely good. The siraegi is fully braised down, soft and silky like glass noodles. The radish is also perfectly cooked and delicious! The sauce here is seriously incredible. And they give you plenty of it, so if you mix the sauce into your rice and wrap it up neatly in seaweed~ it's so, so good~

Wow,,,, you have to try the sauce with rice. It's not too sweet or too spicy, so it's really delicious. The savory depth is unreal. They pack the rice bowl really full too, so you get a generous amount.
