The entrance was neatly kept, too, so I had a good first impression before even stepping inside. It was easy to spot from a distance, and it is conveniently located for anyone looking for a good restaurant near Seoul National University Entrance Station.

I visited Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch for dinner near the station on a Friday evening. I was a little surprised at how many people were there as soon as I walked in. If it is this packed on a Friday night, I thought, there must be a reason!

There were so many customers that it was hard to find an empty seat, which made it feel like this was already quite a well-known spot in Bongcheon-dong. We ordered tori tempura bukkake udon and gyudon. The tori tempura bukkake udon looked like one of Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch's popular choices, so I ordered it with high expectations.

The restaurant also has high chairs, so it seems like a good place to visit with children. They even provide small convenience items such as dental floss to use after the meal, which felt very thoughtful.

Tori tempura bukkake udon with memorable chewy noodles

Above all, what I remember most from the tori tempura bukkake udon was the noodles. They were plump and had a wonderfully chewy bite. Their springy texture really stood out with every mouthful, so noodle lovers would probably be pleased.

The broth was nicely seasoned to go with the noodles, too. It was just right with the noodles, and I kept reaching for more. So if you are craving udon while looking for a good spot around Sharosugil, Kosi is worth a visit.

Udon with toppings and dipping sauce

I also liked that there was a variety of toppings to add to the udon. It was fun adding them one by one to suit my taste, and a dipping sauce came with it as well, making it easy to enjoy the meal in different ways.

Pork cutlet and inari sushi set, plus soft gyudon

I ordered a set, so I also had pork cutlet and inari sushi (seasoned tofu pockets filled with rice). The udon alone was plenty filling, but having sides made the meal feel even more complete. The pork cutlet's coating was especially crisp, making it nice to alternate with the udon.

The gyudon we ordered alongside it was satisfying as well. The beef went nicely with the sauce over the rice, and mixing in the egg on top brought the beefy flavor and soft egg together naturally. The gyudon went down much more smoothly with the egg than with just the sauce and beef.

We ordered one udon and one gyudon to share. Each had a different appeal, so I was happy with our choices.

Wrapping up Friday dinner

Overall, the noodles, broth, and fried items worked nicely together, and the tasty gyudon made for a satisfying dinner. The next time I am looking for a good restaurant in Bongcheon-dong, I would like to return to Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch and try another udon dish.
