New IFC Mall snack spot in Yeouido, weekday lunch set: Hyeonseonine

I heard Hyeonseonine Premium opened a new branch in IFC Mall in Yeouido, so I went to check it out. I already love tteokbokki, but that day I was somehow craving snack food in particular. Walking out afterward, though, I realized it was way more delicious than I expected — very satisfying.

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is located on basement level 2 of IFC Mall. It connects to the underground moving walkway from Yeouido Station Exit 3, so it's easy to reach even on bad-weather days.

It would also be a good stop if you're shopping or watching a movie and get hungry.

Inside Hyeonseonine Premium: atmosphere and seating at IFC Mall

The place is smaller than I expected, but with seating both inside and outside, it actually felt quite spacious for a snack restaurant. The clean, tidy atmosphere made for a comfortable meal.

How kiosk ordering and the self-serve corner work

You order via kiosk, and there's a separate self-serve corner too.

Being able to grab your own radish pickles, spoons, and chopsticks was a quietly convenient touch.

What the Hyeonseoni Set includes

Looking over the menu at this Yeouido IFC lunch spot, I saw it wasn't just tteokbokki — there was sundae, fried snacks, and mini gimbap too.

I'm the type who wants to try a bit of everything, so I ordered the Hyeonseoni Set without hesitation.

Tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks, and mini gimbap — all the classic snack food cravings arrived at once, and it looked pretty generous.

How spicy is the regular-spice tteokbokki?

First up was the tteokbokki, coated properly in red sauce that got my mouth watering just looking at it. This is exactly why I can never walk past a snack restaurant, haha. We ordered it regular spice. On the first bite, the spiciness came through clearly at first, then gave way to savoriness and a subtle sweetness.

The tteokbokki at this Yeouido IFC lunch spot isn't just spicy for spiciness' sake — the sauce itself has real flavor, so even knowing it was hot, my chopsticks kept going back for more. The rice cakes were nice and chewy too, pairing well with the sauce. If you're really sensitive to spice, the milder option might suit you better, but if you generally like spicy tteokbokki, the regular spice was plenty enjoyable.

The sundae: springy and firm

The sundae looked packed full even before I tried it.

On the first bite, the texture was nicely plump and chewy.

The mild flavor of the sundae worked well alternated with the spicy tteokbokki, each dish resetting the palate for the other. Dipped lightly in the tteokbokki sauce, it took on a whole different flavor, and the sundae disappeared fast.

The fritters: crisp right out of the fryer

It would feel like something's missing to skip the fried snacks when eating Korean street food.

The fried snacks had a nicely crispy exterior with a satisfying texture when you bit in.

Under the crispy coating, the filling's own mild flavor came through, and dipped in the tteokbokki sauce, that spicy-sweet kick made it even better — fried snacks really are best eaten with tteokbokki. Anyone who loves a crunchy bite will love this combo.

Mini gimbap dipped in tteokbokki sauce

Surprisingly, what stuck with me most was the mini gimbap. Small enough to eat in one bite, with the nutty aroma of the seaweed hitting first.

It's mild and tasty on its own, but dipped lightly in the tteokbokki broth, the spicy sauce and the gimbap's nuttiness came together even better. I guess tteokbokki and gimbap really are a classic pairing for a reason, haha. At some points during the meal, I actually found myself reaching for the gimbap before the tteokbokki.

When you want bunsik snack food in Yeouido

What I liked about the Hyeonseoni Set was getting to try a bit of everything — sundae, fried snacks, and mini gimbap — rather than just tteokbokki alone.

Being inside IFC Mall makes it especially convenient to stop by when you're hungry from shopping, or want a simple meal after a movie or other plans.

Above all, the tteokbokki was tastier than expected that day — the kind of flavor that stuck in my mind even after I finished.
