There are reasonably priced set menus with a variety of items, plus individual à la carte dishes~ and for those who like it piping hot, they even have instant tteokbokki cooked at the table.

You order through a kiosk, and both dine-in and takeout are available! We ordered the Hyeonseoni Set.

⚠ We visited on a busy weekend, and all the gimbap ingredients had run out, so the owner swapped it for a sesame mayo rice ball instead~! Honestly, that turned out great 💛

Weekend seating and the self-serve bar on IFC Mall B2

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch had more indoor seating than I expected, plus space to eat right next to the store. We sat further inside. Maybe because it's a well-known snack spot near The Hyundai, I noticed people who looked like mall staff coming by for takeout too!!

Aprons, pickled radish, salt, small plates, utensils, water, and more are all self-serve.

What comes in the 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set

Finally, the Hyeonseoni Set we ordered arrived. First I was surprised by how generous the portion was, and surprised a second time by how delicious it looked.

They even give you fish cake broth — what a nice touch 💛 In this era of high prices, getting a spread like this for 23,000 won in Yeouido!! This really seems to be one of the best-value spots in Yeouido. But what matters most? Taste!! Time for an honest review. Is this really one of the best tteokbokki spots in Yeouido?!

How does the mild wheat-flour tteokbokki taste?

First off, I'm not a big fan of artificial-tasting styles like Yeopddeok, and I really prefer the old-school school-front snack shop style!! Just looking at it, it already passed the test!

You can choose the spice level for the tteokbokki (mild, medium, spicy). We went with mild. It was made with chewy, soft wheat-flour rice cakes, and the sauce had a sweetish edge that totally hit the spot for a kid-friendly palate. This really does feel like one of the top tteokbokki spots in Yeouido.

The broth was seriously amazing!! Mixing the rice ball into this broth was truly next-level delicious.

Sundae with liver and lung

They gave us generous, springy sundae along with liver and lung. The glass noodles inside the sundae hadn't gone mushy, which made it delicious — dipping it in salt or soaking it in the tteokbokki broth made me so happy ㅠㅠ. The liver wasn't dried out either, just the right texture, and the lung was tender yet chewy.

Five kinds of fritters, and the squid fritter is the real thing

The assorted fritter plate had all five kinds: fried mandu (dumplings), squid fritters, kimmari (seaweed and glass noodle rolls), vegetable fritters, and sweet potato fritters. They came pre-cut into easy-to-eat pieces!! And you know how at a lot of places the squid fritter is basically all batter? Not here!!! Half batter, half chunky squid!! The batter was super crispy too.

Sesame mayo rice ball served instead of gimbap

As mentioned earlier, the Hyeonseoni Set includes gimbap, but since it was such a busy weekend, they ran out of gimbap ingredients and asked if it was okay to substitute a sesame mayo rice ball instead~ It's supposed to be shaped into a round rice ball, but honestly it was a bit of a hassle and we were hungry, so we just mixed it up with a spoon..haha. Topping the sesame mayo rice ball with crunchy pickled radish made it taste clean and fresh~ and piling on plenty of tteokbokki sauce made it so addictive I couldn't stop reaching for it~

Too much for two to finish: the verdict on Hyeonseonine

We're pretty big eaters and usually finish everything without leaving a bite~ but the portions here were genuinely way too much. So we did leave a little bit behind, but it was seriously delicious.
