Today I went to eat iron-lid pork belly near Guui Station~ The sizzling sound of meat grilling plus the amazing smell was no joke at this restaurant! Let me introduce Jayang-dong's must-visit BBQ spot, Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal (쌈채솥뚜껑삼겹살)!
Where is Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal and when does it open?
Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is located at 55 Jayang-ro, 102-dong 103-ho, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Hours are 12:00 - 24:00, and parking is not available.

This Jayang-dong must-visit BBQ restaurant is located near Guui Station!
The inside was clean and spacious with a ton of tables! There's another space of the same size with more tables right next door!

The table setting and self-serve side dish bar
When we sat down at Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, the basic table setting was already prepared like this! If you run out of any side dishes, there's a separate self-serve bar so you can refill easily~

Unlimited wrap greens at Ssamchae, eggplant included
The biggest advantage of this Jayang-dong must-visit spot, Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, is unlimited fresh wrap greens! They said the vegetables come in fresh every dawn through the auction, which made me trust them even more! Vegetable prices are so high these days,, gotta eat lots of veggies while we can,,haha

There was such a wide variety of wrap greens that you could pick whatever suited your taste. Lettuce and perilla leaves were the basics, but there were also vegetables you don't usually get to try, like kale and chicory. Everything was fresh and vividly green, and just looking at it made me feel healthier.
You can even grill eggplant here!! Usually places charge extra for vegetables like eggplant,, but being able to eat unlimited eggplant.. this is a must-get.

They also gave us kimchi, bracken (dried fern), and bean sprouts to grill together with the meat~~

All the sauces to eat with the meat were at the self-serve bar too! Even sesame oil~

The order: iron-lid pork belly for two and pork neck for one
Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal really has a huge variety of meat! From pork belly, pork jowl, kkodeulsal, and skirt steak to even pork skin, there was so much to choose from!

What we ordered was two servings of iron-lid pork belly, one serving of iron-lid pork neck, doenjang stew (soybean paste stew), and rice!

Finally the pork belly and pork neck we ordered arrived! You know grilling on an iron lid just makes it look even more delicious, right?! I was already drooling.
Just listening to the sizzling sound made me so happy.

Staff grill the pork for you at the table
Oh, and since it's a grilling service, the staff grilled everything for us! No need to worry about who has to grill the meat — we could just relax and chat while eating, which was great!
Ugh.. watching it turn golden brown made me so hungry, it was rough..

Watching the meat turn golden brown with the juices bursting out was truly a work of art. They grilled it so well that none of the juices escaped!

Ah.. doesn't this look absolutely mouthwatering?!

Kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken grilled on the iron lid
Once the meat was cooked enough, they put kimchi, bean sprouts, and bracken around the edge of the iron lid to grill together too.

Kimchi and bean sprouts grilled in pork belly fat are famously delicious, right?! Being able to grill so many different side dishes together on the iron lid seems like one of the big charms of Ssamchae Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal.

And grilled eggplant is amazing too, you know?! The juice that comes out of the eggplant is truly a work of art!!
The side order: doenjang jjigae
For the side dish, we had doenjang stew (soybean paste stew)~ Doenjang stew is a must when eating meat, right?!haha It was savory and a bit spicy, perfect for a refreshing finish after the meat. It was packed with tofu, zucchini, onion and other ingredients, making it even more delicious.
