Gangnam Korean restaurant: octopus set two can't finish, Obongjip
In short
Obongjip Samseong Branch is a Korean octopus and bossam restaurant in Samseong-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, about 400m from Samseong Jungang Station Exit 5. Two diners ordered the Nakji Obongjip Special (₩62,000) — stir-fried octopus for two, pork belly bossam (boiled pork wrap) and a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) platter — plus a ₩1,000 bowl of rice, and left food behind; the set suits 3-4 people. Refillable self-serve banchan (side dishes) and sesame oil on the table let them finish with octopus bibimbap.

Hi everyone, it's Liu haha! Today I want to introduce a Samseong Station favorite — Obongjip Samseong Branch!

You can eat even cheaper with Obongjip's lunch special!

You can join the no-miss lucky draw event after leaving a Naver receipt review, and if you save the review you also get crispy fried pepper on the house~! Definitely grab that fried pepper. So here's what I ordered~~~ 👇👇👇
What comes in the ₩62,000 Nakji Obongjip Special?
Nakji Obongjip Special (₩62,000) Rice (₩1,000)
The Nakji Obongjip Special comes with stir-fried octopus for two + pork belly bossam + a platter of makguksu. You can't have octopus stir-fry without rice, so I ordered a bowl of that too~!

Here's a tip for how to enjoy the octopus stir-fry best~~!!

Self-serve banchan and seaweed soup at Obongjip Samseong Branch
Obongjip Samseong Branch brings out this many basic banchan (side dishes). A bowl of seaweed soup also comes out, and every side dish is refillable at the self-serve bar! There's sesame oil on every table too — pour it over the octopus stir-fry when you mix it in and it's seriously delicious 😆

Just scoop up more banchan at the self-serve bar~ they even have seaweed flakes!

Everything I ordered arrived — the table was basically groaning under it all 😁

Stir-fried octopus for two, with whole octopus in it
First up, the octopus stir-fry! It comes out as a portion for two.

My partner just drizzled sesame oil all over the octopus stir-fry without a second thought 😆
There was a whole octopus in there. Plump and so appetizing-looking 🤗 the octopus was really chunky.
The octopus, cut into easy bite-size pieces, was boiled just right — soft and chewy ☺️

Octopus is delicious on its own, but it's even better with vegetables. Especially these bean sprouts that come as a side dish!! When the spice hits, pile on the bean sprouts and it tones the heat right down~ or you can just mix the bean sprouts straight in and it's still amazing 😁 kind of like kongbulgogi (bean sprout stir-fry) vibes?!

Mixing rice with sesame oil and seaweed flakes for bibimbap
Definitely order at least one bowl of rice and mix it with sesame oil and seaweed flakes 😆

There was so much octopus stir-fry left that I could pile it in generously and it still wasn't enough to run out. So much octopus in there 👍 I added sesame oil and mixed it all together properly 😆
Take a bite loaded with plump octopus, and if it gets too spicy, top it with bean sprouts for a clean finish 😆 I also added white kimchi to keep it clean — haha. White kimchi with bean sprouts makes it even more refreshing ☺️
I piled some bossam on top too and took a big bite — haha.

Pork belly bossam with geotjeori and mu-saengchae (radish salad)
Pork belly bossam (boiled pork wrap) comes with it too~ that's the great thing about the Nakji Obongjip Special — you get to eat octopus stir-fry and bossam at the same time hahaha!

The bossam portion was generous, and the fat-to-meat ratio was just right and tender.

Geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi) and mu-saengchae (spicy radish salad) come alongside — haha. The geotjeori is especially good — haha.

Soft, tender bossam!~~ Definitely eat it with kimchi 😉 There was so much geotjeori that we had leftovers of that too!!!! The geotjeori was so fresh, and wrapping the bossam in it was incredible.

The mu-saengchae was of course cool and crunchy — delicious~

The makguksu platter: how much food is this for two people?
Next, the makguksu (buckwheat noodles). It's included in the Nakji Obongjip Special menu, but honestly the whole set really seems like too much for two people 😅 It felt like the right amount for 3-4 people, haha. By the time we finished the noodles too, I thought I was going to burst. But I still couldn't give up on the rice~~~
We just mixed the noodles up without much thought~~

The noodle portion looked like about 2 servings too 🤣 Between octopus and bossam, the one that pairs better with the noodles is definitely bossam!~~ There's a reason people eat bossam with makguksu 😆😆
After finishing everything, a cool glass of plum juice was the perfect way to wrap it up 😊 After your meal, you can join the Naver receipt review event and try the lucky draw! Why not head to Obongjip Samseong Branch and fill up on octopus and bossam all in one satisfying meal~~??
