What kind of café is Bakerist Brown?

Bakerist Brown is a large bakery café at 21 Gangnam-daero102-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, using a total of 4 floors from the basement up to the 3rd floor. Hours are consistent — every day from 11am to 10:30pm.

I was looking for a large bakery café in Gangnam and ended up at Bakerist Brown! The building itself is pretty big, the vibe is great overall, and there's such a wide range of bakery items and desserts that I got dizzy the second I walked in...

How far is Bakerist Brown from Sinnonhyeon Station?

The location is fairly close to Sinnonhyeon Station — about 300m from Exit 6. It's also walkable from Gangnam Station, so it seems like a solid pick if you're looking for a café between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station.

The exterior and the 1st-floor outdoor garden seats

The exterior of Bakerist Brown looked like it was using an entire standalone building, which I loved. It's a red brick building tucked into a Gangnam side street.

From the outside it definitely didn't feel like your typical franchise café — more like they'd taken over a whole big bakery building, so it was easy to spot at a glance.

And from the 1st floor there was garden-like outdoor seating. It looked cozy and lovely, and seemed like it would be so relaxing in this autumn weather.

Even before going in, I could preview the signature menu items through the posters outside.

What desserts fill the 1st-floor bakery case?

Dessert showcase with cakes and puddings

Just like the word 'baker' in the name suggests, this place really nails its bread. It had that famous-bakery feel. The salt bread looked popular too, and there were all kinds of desserts like cakes and puddings on display — lots of crowd-pleasing options.

Among these, the cake-like pavlova caught my eye. I got curious about what it would taste like — chewy texture? — so I decided to order one.

So many cream latte options!

This one had so many photos of it that I couldn't help but wonder what it actually tasted like, right? It's not a dessert you see often, so it felt really novel.

I took a photo of all the desserts together. Looks like the bread comes out from morning through lunch, so I'd recommend visiting around lunchtime rather than evening (that way you'll get to try a wider variety of bread).

This seems to be the signature item — the Gangnam Sand was also there, and it was genuinely delicious and nutty with an overwhelmingly upscale look. Looks great for gifting too, and I think foreign visitors would love it...

They also sell all kinds of goods like t-shirts and mugs, and the designs were so cute and simple that I really wanted to buy something. Especially that croissant surfing on a surfboard — so cute, ugh.

  • Gangnam Sand set (8 pieces) ₩19,000
  • Americano ₩6,500
  • Black sesame latte ₩7,800
  • Fig pavlova ₩9,600

What I ordered: Gangnam Sand, americano, black sesame latte, and fig pavlova! I really mixed it up, right? The bread looked amazing but I didn't have room left for it, so I stuck to what seemed like the café's signature desserts.

The women's restroom is on B1 and 2F, and the men's is on B1 and 3F — spread out nicely across floors. And of course, no outside food allowed.

What the 2nd- and 3rd-floor seats feel like

2F: photo exhibition and sofa seats

I went up to the 2nd floor first, and as expected of a large café, the huge space really stood out. If the 1st floor was mainly about browsing the bakery, the 2nd floor was properly set up for sitting and relaxing.

There were also nice little exhibitions dotted around here and there, adding a touch of class to the space.

3F: large tables for groups

And a defining feature of this café — there were lots of large-table seats. I noticed all kinds of people using them for gatherings or meetings.

Large table seating on the 3rd floor

Overall the seating looked great for chatting. There were plenty of seats that were comfortable enough to sit at for a long time, making it a great space to enjoy good food in.

How the Gangnam Sand set (8 pieces, 19,000 won) tasted

Box of the Gangnam Sand set (8 pieces)

First up, the Gangnam Sand I'd been most curious about! I was surprised the moment I took a bite. I thought, how good could a sandwich cookie really be — but the nuttiness was on a totally different level. It also had a pretty, gift-worthy look.

Holding up a single Gangnam Sand

It wasn't too sweet — the nutty flavor was rich and clean, so I think it'd be a crowd-pleaser with no haters. Great for gifting.

Eight colorful varieties of Gangnam Sand

I really loved the simple yet colorful look of them.

Americano, 6,500 won

And the essential iced americano! I ordered so many desserts that if I hadn't gotten an iced americano, I might have struggled halfway through, haha.

Iced americano next to the desserts

It definitely went down easier paired with the sweeter desserts, and the combo worked well. Especially with the Gangnam Sand — it cleanly balanced out the nutty sweetness and made the flavor pop even more.

What kind of dessert is the fig pavlova (9,600 won)?

And the item I was most curious about? The fig pavlova!!! Both the name and the look were unfamiliar to me at first, so I had to order it just to find out what kind of dessert it actually was.

Fig pavlova topped with cream and figs
Cross-section of the fig pavlova showing the meringue

The moment I saw it in person, it looked like a giant meringue cookie topped with cream and figs. And the taste matched — it cracked apart satisfyingly, revealing a filling packed with cream inside. A novel, sweet, delicious dessert. Honestly, the visual alone is gorgeous.

Black sesame latte, 7,800 won

And the black sesame latte! If you like nutty flavors, you'll probably love this. The moment I took a sip, I thought — oh, this is way richer than I expected?

But it wasn't overly intense either — the kind of flavor that would be broadly popular. The black sesame taste wasn't vague at all; it came through rich and nutty, which was exactly my type. If you love that nutty, heavy flavor like soy milk or black bean soy milk, you'll go crazy for this. Grandma-palate folks especially need to make this a must-visit spot.

There was a small photo exhibition going on, and it looked so pretty that I took several full-shot photos.

Every single thing looked delicious and Instagram-worthy — if you love dessert cafés, you absolutely have to visit this place, haha.

Seriously, that fig visual is unreal, wow. Wrapping up with one more gorgeous shot.

Final verdict on Bakerist Brown

With such a spacious layout and great atmosphere, Bakerist Brown was perfect for piling on desserts with friends and chatting away! The Gangnam Sand especially hit my taste perfectly, so next time I want to come back for another round of it and properly try the bread too ☕️🥐

Recommended for dessert lovers and anyone looking for a great-vibe café in Gangnam!
