Weekday black pork BBQ and Jeju noodles in Bundang: Jeju Monteurak

I visited Jeju Monteurak with my husband, and even though it was a weekday, the place was packed with customers — clearly a popular spot!

It's famous as a black pork specialist, but they also serve Jeju pork noodle soup and platter menus, so it's great for a meal that's both simple and filling. The restaurant was spacious and clean, with a vibe that would suit a family meal, a work lunch, or a company dinner.

The interior of this Sunae BBQ restaurant was spacious and comfortable. Even on a weekday there were so many customers — I immediately knew this was a good place 😉

The restroom is inside the building, but located outside the restaurant itself. You'll find it if you step out the door!

Lettuce, fernbrake, watery radish kimchi, shredded scallions, doenjang (soybean paste), wasabi, salted shrimp, and more! They set out a neat spread of basic side dishes. I bet they'd be great with the meat 🫶

What we ordered was the Jeju pork noodle soup, Jeju citron perilla oil makguksu, and the black pork Jeju platter (2 people) + kimchi jjigae.

The black pork on the Jeju platter looked like great quality ❤️ Staff grilled the thick cuts to a nicely browned, perfect doneness for us. 🤤 True to a platter, the spread was generous and satisfying.

The black pork was juicy yet chewy, and it paired well with the side dishes served alongside. It was exactly the kind of menu that makes for a hearty, filling meal.

Sizzle sizzle~~ they grill the black pork together with asparagus, melgeot (fermented anchovy sauce), mushrooms, and white kimchi~

The staff grilled it partway, then cut it into bite-sized pieces for us themselves!

🍜 Jeju pork noodle soup

The broth was rich yet clean, easy to eat without feeling heavy. The pork was tender with no off smell, and the noodles were chewy, so I finished the bowl in no time. Perfect for a rainy day or whenever you're craving a warm soup.

🍊 Jeju citron perilla oil makguksu

This was the most unique menu item! The nuttiness of the perilla oil and the tartness of the citron blended beautifully, giving it a charm quite different from regular makguksu (buckwheat noodles).

The citron cleanly cut through the richness of the perilla oil, and I ate it up happily! It was a flavor I'd never had before, and it was so good I wanted to ask the owner for the recipe. Jeju Monteurak isn't just a BBQ spot — it's a makguksu spot too!!
