Suwon pork kimchi grill house open late for family dinner: Sarangjip
In short
Sarangjip is a pork kimchi grill restaurant tucked inside the Ajou University food alley in Uman-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi, serving one dish only. Arriving at 8pm with her husband and child, the writer ordered the small pork kimchi grill (19,000 won) and fried rice (2,000 won); the pork arrives fully cooked from the kitchen, so the tabletop grill only keeps it warm. Thick cuts with heaps of kimchi and onion made Sarangjip great value — the two adults cleared the plate in 40 minutes.

Hi everyone! It's Hingni haha 😊 My husband and I suddenly got hungry at night, so we went to 'Sarangjip,' a Gwanggyo-area favorite for pork kimchi grill. 😋

Sarangjip is a grill restaurant tucked inside the Ajou University food alley in Uman-dong, Suwon. Parking isn't available, hours are 11:00–22:00, and break time is 14:30–16:30. 🚶♀️

The weather's been so nice lately, so I really loved these open-air style seats. 🍃 The inside of this Uman-dong lunch favorite Sarangjip is also spacious and clean, with wide gaps between tables. There's a good variety of seating too. 👍 True to its reputation as an Ajou University-area favorite, it was packed even though it was past 8pm on a weekday?! 👥 There's a strangely nice mix of chandelier and retro atmosphere. ✨
Sarangjip's menu and prices — a single dish: pork kimchi grill
You order at Sarangjip using the kiosk at your table. There's a single menu item, pork kimchi grill. 🥘 You can choose from small, medium, or large sizes, and there's also a lunch menu that's great for solo diners or budget eating. 🍚

At this Ajou University-area favorite, we ordered
Pork kimchi grill, small (₩19,000)
On purpose, we didn't order rice from the start because fried rice is a must! 😋

While waiting for the food, there's a nice sign with tips on how to eat it deliciously along with fried rice tips, good for a light read. They said you get a steamed egg if you join their SNS event, so it's worth participating. 🥚 Right next door is Cho Heetak Coffee, where showing your Sarangjip receipt gets you 10% off — perfect for a post-meal coffee stop. ☕
Thick meat and the sweet-spicy small pork kimchi grill
Not long after ordering, the pork kimchi grill and side dishes arrived right away. Sarangjip's pork kimchi grill comes fully cooked from the kitchen, so the grill just keeps it warm and you can dig in immediately — so convenient. 👍

The bean sprout soup that came as a default side was spicy, and the corn salad was crunchy and light. 🌽 We went with our kid, and the owner thoughtfully left the chili peppers out of the kid's bean sprout soup...🥺

For ₩19,000, the small pork kimchi grill came with a really generous portion, so it's great value. It genuinely felt like the perfect soju pairing, and it was a shame we drove and just ate the food without drinking. 🚗 The meat is packed in thick and hearty, and it's loaded with kimchi and onion — a combination that can't taste bad. 🥓

It's satisfying and filling even eaten plain, sweet and spicy, but dipping it in mayonnaise and wrapping it in perilla-radish wraps gives it a unique, different flavor. Wrapping it in fresh perilla leaves is honestly the best!! 🥬
Fried rice cooked in pork belly fat, ₩2,000
After cleanly finishing the meat, we ordered
Fried rice (₩2,000)
Sarangjip's fried rice also comes already stir-fried, so all you have to do is eat — so easy. ⚡

They topped it generously with dried seaweed flakes, and after mixing it up and taking a bite, it was truly delicious fried rice — kimchi stir-fried well in pork belly fat. 🤤 Normally, eating pork belly means grilling it yourself, which takes effort and time?!? But here it comes already cooked, and since I actually like fried rice more than grilled pork belly, this made me completely happy. 💖 My husband and I ate hard together and finished it all in 40 minutes flat lol ⏱️
Wrapping up Sarangjip
With thick meat and well-cooked kimchi that comes out fully grilled, it's convenient and great value — come to 'Sarangjip' for a delicious meal or a drink!😋
