Korean restaurant in Gwacheon for torim bibimbap: Bibisam
In short
Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant about a two-minute walk from Government Complex Gwacheon Station. My husband and I ordered bulgogi and Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap sets with Korean beef tteokgalbi for ₩30,000; I liked the gently seasoned rice and moist patties, though lunch queues and the fully self-service setup are worth noting.

My husband and I went to Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch (비비삼 과천본점) for lunch. It specializes in bibimbap made with torim rice, which is repeatedly rinsed with broth, topped with stir-fried vegetables and namul (seasoned vegetables). I chose the bulgogi bibimbap, my husband chose the Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap, and we ordered Korean beef tteokgalbi patties as part of each set.
What were the lunch wait and parking like?
Bibisam Gwacheon Main Branch is about a two-minute walk from Government Complex Gwacheon Station on Line 4. There is no dedicated parking, so I used a nearby public parking lot. The parking fee did not feel like a major burden during my visit.
Expecting a lunch queue, I hurried a little. I went in first while my husband parked; at 11:45 a.m., I took the last available table, and a queue formed right away. In my experience, arriving before the lunch rush made it easier to find both a table and parking.
What were the atmosphere and seating like?
The interior was bright and lively, crowded with nearby office workers having lunch. The window-side and other perimeter tables had chairs with backs, while the chairs at the central tables did not. One staff member continually tidied the dining area, so it felt generally clean.
What did we order, and how much was it for two?
My husband ordered the Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap and Korean beef tteokgalbi set. Since I was pregnant and felt hesitant about yukhoe, I chose the bulgogi bibimbap and Korean beef tteokgalbi set. The two sets came to ₩30,000, which felt reasonable for a meal that included tteokgalbi.
What do you need to do yourself?
Everything from payment and serving to returning your tray after the meal is self-service. You also need to take water, soup, utensils, and side dishes from the self-service bar as needed.
A staff member diligently maintained the self-service bar, so the area was tidy.
We took baekkimchi (white kimchi) and miso soup. Individual disposable aprons and wet wipes were also generously stocked.
Floss and mouthwash were also available to use after the meal.
How were the bibimbap and Korean beef tteokgalbi served?
There were set options pairing bibimbap or albap (fish roe rice) with Korean pork tteokgalbi or Korean beef tteokgalbi. The torim bibimbap and Korean beef tteokgalbi combination we had went well together.
The bulgogi torim bibimbap arrived with bulgogi already on top. It also included mushrooms, perilla leaves, egg strips, doraji (bellflower root), gosari (bracken fern), bean sprouts, and other vegetables and namul.
The Korean beef yukhoe bibimbap came with the yukhoe in a separate bowl.
The Korean beef tteokgalbi was topped with a fried egg. It felt moist and juicy, and I enjoyed it with the bibimbap.
What does torim bibimbap taste like?
Torim is a method of repeatedly pouring broth over rice and draining it away. Here, the process seasoned the rice itself, so the bibimbap was meant to be eaten without a separate strong seasoning.
It felt different from bibimbap mixed with gochujang. The rice was fluffy and gently flavored rather than intense, making it easy to eat with the vegetables.
How do you mix and eat torim bibimbap?
The fluffy rice can be gently mixed with chopsticks rather than a spoon.
I sprinkled on a little gim garu (seaweed flakes) from the table, then lightly mixed it with chopsticks. For the yukhoe bibimbap, you first mix the rice, then add yukhoe to each bite. You could request gochujang seasoning separately if you wanted it.
