Friday duck jeyuk lunch at a Gwacheon duck restaurant: Deo Chadol
In short
Deo Chadol is a duck and beef brisket restaurant on Dwitgol2-ro near Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, where lunch specials run 13,000–15,000 won per person. On a Friday at 11:30am the writer ordered the duck jeyuk (spicy stir-fried duck) set, the hearty duck and beef brisket soup, and an assorted seafood egg soup that was the most surprising dish of the meal. There is a wait at Deo Chadol, but tables turn over quickly, and the value is good enough to promise a return visit.

I went to Gwacheon's Seoul Land on a Friday and discovered a truly value-packed lunch special spot. There's a wait because it's popular, but it was worth it — Deo Chadol! Once you go, you'll promise yourself a return visit. Here's the Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant I'm introducing 💛

Deo Chadol, the Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant that made me promise a repeat visit.
Parking at Deo Chadol and the Friday 11:30am wait
Deo Chadol is a standalone building restaurant on Dwitgol2-ro in Gwacheon, and it uses its front yard as a spacious parking lot — but even so, it was packed with lunchtime customers. There's a parking attendant on site helping things move smoothly, so it was fine.

Inside, the walls were covered with framed autographs and photos of famous people. That's how well-known and popular this place is. I was honestly shocked by the peak-time wait — it was 11:30am on a Friday, is this for real?!
It's a certified Seoul Land restaurant that actor Ryu Seung-ryong recommended on KBS's 'Baedal Wassuda,' so my expectations were UP.

Center tables, window seats and group rooms at Deo Chadol
Deo Chadol has center seats, window seats, and private group rooms, and of course everything was full. I was in 'please seat me the second anything opens up' mode 😂
The one saving grace was that most customers were there for a quick lunch, so tables turned over fast and a seat opened up before long.

It's been a while since I've seen a Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant this bustling even on a weekday, so even the wait for the food to arrive felt exciting.

This is one of the rooms for group reservations — private and with a different atmosphere. There were several rooms available. If you're visiting as a group, I recommend booking one of these in advance.
As a popular restaurant with a wait, the waiting area was well set up too. When I went in for my meal there was ice water for the long queue, and by the time I finished eating and left, it had already melted. This summer heat is no joke.
The gender-separated restrooms inside the building were well maintained, so I could freshen up after the meal using the manner box's mouthwash and floss — a nice touch.

The self-serve bar was kept spotlessly clean even at maximum capacity. Staff kept circling around cleaning it before it got messy. A Seoul Land restaurant with nothing lacking, in every sense 💛

Deo Chadol lunch specials: 13,000–15,000 won per person
Honestly, when I first found out about Deo Chadol and headed over, I was going for the duck brisket BBQ. But once I got there at lunchtime, the lunch special turned out to be incredible value. The food at the next table looked so good that we ended up ordering the lunch special too: the duck jeyuk set, the duck brisket soup, and the assorted seafood egg custard. At ₩13,000–15,000 per person, that's an insane value~!
How could I not order this.

Pale side dishes, light on the chili flakes
Once the order went in, the side dishes and rice came out first. What stood out was that, compared to other places, the side dishes weren't red.

I later learned why: since most of the main dishes are spicy, the side dishes are made pale and light on chili flakes to balance things out. At an age where I'm watching my diet, I appreciated that detail too.

The duck jeyuk set comes with doenjang jjigae
All the dishes I ordered arrived. And I hadn't realized it, but the duck jeyuk set comes with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) included.

I ordered the duck soup thinking there'd be no stew, but the two dishes were different enough in character that I happily ate both. Just be aware the portions can end up being a lot.

Why every table orders the assorted seafood egg soup
I was curious why there was one of these on every single table, so I ordered the assorted seafood egg custard (moduem haemul gyeran-tang) myself.

Yep — one spoonful in and I knew exactly why. The popular choice really is different for a reason. Personally, this was the most shockingly delicious thing, and it's the reason I've promised myself a repeat visit. My husband thought it was just plain egg soup, but he ended up scraping the bowl clean down to the last drop of broth wondering what this was. Worth every won — highly recommend!! Since it's such a famous Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant, here's a first-visit tip: order whatever's on the neighboring tables and you can't go wrong 😇👍🏻

Duck jeyuk set: the rice disappears fast
The actual main order — the duck jeyuk — came in a generous portion, with hearty duck meat, fresh vegetables, and a delicious sauce.

Scooping it up on a bowl of rice and mixing it in, the rice just kept disappearing — the signature 'rice thief' dish of this Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant!

With other meats, the fattiness can feel like a lot, but because this jeyuk is made with duck, the fat dissolves easily in water, so I could eat without worrying. Even while watching my diet, it felt less guilty, so I mixed it in and ate heartily 😋

Hearty duck and brisket soup, and the jjamppong for next time
And the second dish, after the seafood egg custard, that I raved about the most on this Gwacheon Seoul Land lunch special is this duck soup. Honestly, most of the tables around me were eating the Cheongwadae duck brisket jjamppong (spicy noodle soup) instead, but since I was watching my diet, adding noodles felt like a bit too much, so I ordered the soup-with-rice version instead.
And it was genuinely delicious. How much better would it have been with jjamppong noodles in it! So once my blood sugar normalizes after giving birth, I'm definitely coming back for the duck brisket jjamppong. Promise made!

Participating in the Naver review event got us a free iced americano to finish things off, which made the whole experience clean and satisfying start to end — this Gwacheon Seoul Land restaurant, Deo Chadol. This quality and flavor at this price — turns out Gwacheon locals have been quietly eating this well all along! Well, now that I'm practically a nearby resident too(?), I'll be making regular visits ✌
