Gwacheon Korean restaurant seafood chicken hot pot: Gwacheon Haesintang

In short

Gwacheon Haesintang Gwacheon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi, near Government Complex Gwacheon Station. I shared the 59,000 won haesintang for two with my dad and added kalguksu noodles, loving the fresh seafood, chicken, and rich yet clean-tasting broth. Verdict: a generous restorative meal worth remembering.

Introduction to visiting Gwacheon Haesintang

This time, I visited Gwacheon Haesintang, a great restaurant near Seoul Grand Park known for haesintang (seafood and chicken hot pot). This was only my third time having haesintang in my life, and I came back properly recharged. It was delicious, refreshing haesintang with fresh seafood and fresh chicken!

Interior of Gwacheon Haesintang with private rooms

A Gwacheon spot for meals and work dinners with private rooms

There are private rooms inside, and I noticed lots of guests had reservations. It is already well known in Gwacheon for meals out and company dinners. It had been a while since I came for a restorative meal, so I was really excited! My dad was excited too, since it had been a while since his last haesintang. Hahaha, getting excited over food? Hahaha.

Cordyceps liquor for sale

Gwacheon Haesintang also includes precious cordyceps mushrooms. They were selling cordyceps liquor too, in the ₩20,000 range! They say it goes well with haesintang, haha. Why does the color of the liquor look so pretty? Hehe.

Gwacheon Haesintang reservation status

The reservations were completely booked like this. No wonder it is considered a great restaurant near Seoul Grand Park, haha. It was packed from lunch through dinner. Good, good.

Spacious, clean interior of Gwacheon Haesintang

The interior was spacious and clean too, haha. I also liked that the owner and staff were so kind. They have private rooms like this as well!

Large separate private room

There are about three large separate rooms, so it looked great for Gwacheon work dinners and family gatherings. The kitchen was also managed very cleanly and hygienically, which my dad really liked too.

Dining table prepared for reserved guests

Since we made a reservation before visiting, they had our table ready like this, and you can order easily through the kiosk!

Kiosk ordering information

Haesintang for two and pimuneo haesintang

We ordered haesintang for two for ₩59,000, then added kalguksu noodles at the end. The kalguksu noodle add-on is essential.

Pimuneo haesintang menu

They also have pimuneo haesintang, and the octopus is enormous. It is 100% domestic, and seriously so huge. If you are coming as a family, I think the 3–4 person pimuneo haesintang would be a great choiceㅠㅠ So fresh.

Neatly arranged side dishes for haesintang

A full spread where even the side dishes were excellent

And the neatly arranged side dishes. Every single one was truly deliciousㅠㅠ Is steamed egg really included? My child loves it so much!

Kimchi, salad, and other side dishes

The kimchi was nicely mild, and there was everything from salad and fresh geotjeori kimchi to pickled chili peppers!

Side dishes including octopus jeotgal

Wow, there was even octopus jeotgal, salted fermented octopus. My dad said it was really delicious. Just eating the side dishes made me think, ah, this place really knows what it is doing. The side dishes were so good that all the guests behind us were asking for refill after refill.

Guide to enjoying haesintang

Cordyceps haesintang: how was the broth?

Make sure to read the guide on how to enjoy haesintang, haha. It really gives you energy. I had been feeling especially low on energy latelyㅠㅠ

Haesintang for two topped with cordyceps

Finally, the haesintang for two arrived. Can you see the mushrooms on top? They are cordyceps, mushrooms said to be especially precious for the body.

Haesintang with seafood, octopus, and chicken

The table was full, with abundant seafood, fresh octopus, and chicken underneath too.

Haesintang with fresh scallops

The scallops were so plump, so plump. More than anything, I loved how fresh they were. The ingredients themselves are so good—that must be where this flavor comes from, right?

Cooking octopus and haesintang broth

I took a picture because the octopus cooking away was so pretty. The broth was superb.

Haesintang with large abalone

Everyone, if you stop by Seoul Grand Park and need to rebuild your drained energy, this is a place you absolutely have to visit. The abalone was really huge too. The broth itself was intensely rich, but it was delicious and refreshing without being heavy, so I just kept going back for more and more. I am craving it again already.

A full spread of rich, refreshing haesintang

Truly the ultimate restorative meal. Of the foods I have eaten lately, this was one I found incredibly delicious while sweating buckets—not spicy at all, either.

Haesintang with chojang and soy sauce

The chojang dipping sauce was delicious, the soy sauce was delicious too—officially approved as a great restaurant near Seoul Grand Park, bang bang bang. My dad even had a daytime drink for the first time in a while, haha. If you have it with haesintang, you do not get drunk. Hehe.

Kalguksu noodles full of minari fragrance

Finish with kalguksu noodles

The kalguksu noodles at the end are essential. They were thin and incredibly soft, full of the fragrance of minari (water celery), haha. Gwacheon Haesintang really felt like I had finally given my hard-working body a proper gift for the first time in ages, haha.
