Bupyeong Korean BBQ with free pork bone soup: Eolkeuni Gamjatang

Eolkeuni Gamjatang Samgyeopsal near Bupyeong Station

I visited Eolkeuni Gamjatang Samgyeopsal Bupyeong Station Branch (얼큰이감자탕삼겹살 부평역점). It was easy to find, less than five minutes from Exit 7 of Bupyeong Station. Just turn slightly into the Olive Young alley and the restaurant is right there, so it also seemed like a nice place to set as a meeting point.

Order pork belly and gamjatang comes free

The most fun perk here is that when you order samgyeopsal (pork belly), gamjatang (spicy pork bone soup) comes as a complimentary service. You can enjoy both pork belly and piping-hot gamjatang, making for a seriously generous spread.

Since you can have meat and soup together without ordering them separately, it should appeal to anyone who values a good deal, too. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, so it is also great for a late meal.

A menu for meals through drinking sessions

The menu has plenty to choose from, including pork belly, gamjatang, pork-bone hangover soup, naengmyeon, and jeon (Korean savory pancakes), so it looked like an easy one-stop spot for a meal, drinks, or a group dinner.

I started with a glass of Terra draft beer for ₩4,500.

We had soju and beer together, and the soju here is self-serve. You simply take as much as you want from the fridge next to the table, which was convenient because there was no need to call over a staff member.

Yukhoe with egg yolk and sprouts

First, we ordered yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) for ₩15,000. Fresh sprouts and an egg yolk sat on top of the bright red beef, and it looked delicious before we even started.

Breaking the yolk and mixing it well into the yukhoe made it richer and softer, while the sprouts added a clean, gently sweet note. It was a great dish with drinks, too.

Yeolmu-kimchi naengmyeon that pairs well with meat

Next, we ordered yeolmu-kimchi naengmyeon (cold noodles with young-radish kimchi) for ₩8,000. The yeolmu kimchi was perfectly fermented and had such a lovely crunch and tang.

The cold broth and well-fermented yeolmu kimchi came together to leave my mouth feeling instantly refreshed. Alongside meat, it cuts through the richness and wakes up your appetite again, so it would be nice to have between bites.

With yukhoe alongside the cool yeolmu naengmyeon... is there another drinking snack this refreshing and savory? It was really good.

We ordered steamed egg as well and ended on a warm note. It even had cheese on top.

After a generous meal of hot soup and meat, I think you would feel satisfied even late at night. Since it is open 24 hours, it struck me as a good place to visit when you crave warm soup after a late dinner or drinks.

An unexpected view outside the window in the city

The surroundings were interesting, too. There was a karaoke place next door, so in the evening the sound of people laughing made it feel lively. But when I turned toward the window, I could see a small chili-pepper field. Seeing a pepper field outside while eating in the middle of the city near Bupyeong Station was unexpectedly cozy and amusing.

Menu prices to note

The menu prices are worth noting, too. There are various dishes, including the Eolgam Sam (Eolkeuni Gamjatang Samgyeopsal) set for ₩49,000, Eolkeuni gamjatang for ₩33,000, and stone-pot braised bones for ₩33,000.

It was a convenient place where gamjatang comes free with pork belly, and you can take soju yourself from the fridge next to the table. If you want to enjoy a generous spread with several dishes, it may be worth a visit.

With its location near Bupyeong Station, 24-hour hours, varied menu, and generous portions, it was a place worth remembering for a hearty late-night meal or drinks.
