How to find Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, and the weekend afternoon wait
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is just a 2-minute walk from Hyehwa Station Exit 4~ I went after the weekend lunch rush had passed, so I was pretty relaxed, but there was still a bit of a wait!
It was around 2pm?! There were about 5 teams ahead of me, but luckily the turnover seemed good, because I got a call after just 10 minutes!

Omil's seating is a mix of built-in sofa seats and 2-4 person window tables! There's a high chair and aprons ready near the self-service bar, so feel free to use them if you need them!
It's fusion food, so pickles are a must~ You just grab them yourself! You can also charge your phone there!
The restroom is shared. Luckily it's inside the restaurant, and there's mouthwash tucked in one corner of the restroom, so I liked being able to freshen up neatly after eating!

🐤Trot trot trot! Rubber duck omurice ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ₩16,900 This is Omil's signature dish — a cute rubber duck sits atop fluffy swirl omurice (rolled omelette rice) filled with salmon fried rice, apparently~ I only just noticed there was a free rubber duck plush event listed on the menu! When they brought it out and said I could keep the rubber duck plush, I had no idea and just accepted it — so cute?! They're just giving this away?! Haha, I felt this little burst of happiness even before eating~ (not sure what I'll use it for, but still)
The kind of visual✨ you'd want to recreate at home~ It was fun just eating it~ And I figured all omurice tastes similar, right~ so I wasn't expecting much, but I really recommend this! Eating it with the gochujang butter pasta cut through any greasiness, and the soft, fluffy egg helped too~! The fried rice wasn't just plain vegetable fried rice but salmon fried rice, so it had a slightly more special flavor! 👍 (There's not much actual salmon meat, so don't expect too much~)
🍝Gochujang butter pasta (K-butter pasta) ⭐⭐⭐½ ₩18,900 A thick, addictive pasta where gochujang (fermented chili paste)'s savory depth meets butter's nutty richness and sous-vide pork collar. I hesitated to try it since I figured gochujang butter would be intense~ but I was satisfied!
Subtly spicy, with tender sous-vide pork collar~ It's really filling, so you get full fast! Perfect combo with the omurice (take a bite whenever it gets a little rich!). Eaten on its own, it's a cream sauce and butter pasta so it can feel a bit heavy! If you're on the fence, I think it's worth ordering!
🍟Truffle fries ⭐⭐ (⭐⭐⭐ if you like truffle) ₩9,900 Simple fries drizzled with truffle oil and sweet honey! I guess I'm just not that into truffle aroma haha — this one's going to be hit or miss! People who like truffle said they enjoyed it~ My one small complaint is I wish there had been a bit more honey drizzled on~
🍍Oh! Pineapple ade ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ₩6,900 A refreshing signature Omil drink made with sweet pineapple syrup. I noticed there was one sitting on nearly every table.
🍍The pineapple-shaped gold cup is pretty, and the fizz just kept cleansing my palate so the food kept going down well! I feel like I ordered really well here. Since it's made with pineapple syrup, you get bits of pulp in every so often~ and it's just sweet enough — a drink I'd recommend~
If you visit, definitely try the trio combo I had — omurice + gochujang butter pasta + pineapple ade~ There's barely a moment where it gets tiring; ⭐the spiciness and tanginess cut right through the richness, so you can enjoy it perfectly all the way to the end! 👍
