Shiitake shrimp pyogosha at a Marine City Chinese restaurant: Bueokgan

I visited Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch in Haeundae's Marine City. I went hoping for good Chinese food around the Marine City area, and I got that — plus a beach view out the window so pretty it made the whole visit even more memorable :)

How to find Bueokgan Chinese in Marine City

Bueokgan Chinese is on the 2nd floor above Suybeon Choego Pork Gukbap. Just walk into the building and head up to the second floor.

Inside Bueokgan Chinese: beach views from the window seats

The first thing that caught my eye the moment I walked into Bueokgan Chinese was the scenery spread out through the window.

The view by the windows was wide open, so the beach stretched out in full view 🌊 I came for Chinese food, but the view was so much prettier than expected that I spent a good while looking outside even before the food arrived haha.

There were seats arranged in several spots throughout the interior. The table spacing and seat styles varied, so it looked like a good place to visit with friends or have a family meal, and also a nice, relaxed atmosphere for a date.

What's on the menu at Bueokgan Chinese?

Looking over the menu at Bueokgan Chinese, there was a huge range — from basic Chinese dishes like jajang and jjamppong to all kinds of cooked dishes.

The menu was so varied that we agonized for a while over what to order, and in the end we went with suran ganjajang + usamgyeop beef jjamppong + pyogosha — three dishes!

Suran ganjajang: black bean noodles with a runny poached egg

Not long after ordering, the ganjajang (black bean noodles) arrived first! It looked delicious right off the bat, but what really caught my eye was the poached egg sitting on top.

So I gently poked the poached egg first... pop! Watching the soft-yolked egg burst open honestly looked so good haha.

Usamgyeop beef jjamppong: spicy broth and generous toppings

Next up was the usamgyeop beef jjamppong! Even the look of it hinted at a spicy broth.

I usually love a spicy broth, so I figured this would be exactly my style — and sure enough, it hit the spot perfectly haha. I hadn't even had a drink that day, but somehow it still felt like the ultimate hangover cure lol.

If you love a spicy broth, I think you'd really enjoy this one.

It wasn't just a case of fishing out noodles — there were so many ingredients packed in that every spoonful brought up something new.

All the ingredients in the jjamppong kept their own distinct flavors, so I really enjoyed eating it 👍

What is pyogosha? Fried shiitake mushrooms with minced shrimp

The last dish to arrive was pyogosha, which was a little unfamiliar to me 🍄🍤 It looked like menbosha, but made with minced shrimp piled on top of shiitake mushroom and then deep-fried. It came with a sauce in the middle that looked like it was made with black vinegar.

The shiitake mushroom was way chewier than I expected, and eating it together with the soft shrimp texture was so good! Dipping it in the tangy black vinegar sauce cut through the greasiness of the fried batter and gave it a fresh new flavor.

The food was delicious, but being able to enjoy the view through the window at the same time made it even better. Between bites of tasty jajang and jjamppong, I kept glancing outside and had a really relaxed, satisfying meal ✨

If you want to enjoy good Chinese food along with a pretty ocean view in Marine City, I'd recommend this Marine City favorite, Bueokgan Chinese 💙 I enjoyed all three dishes that day, left with a full stomach, and felt great walking out haha. Next time I want to try some other menu items too!
