In short

Hola Poke Seolleung Branch is a poke restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, where bowls can be customized to taste. I chose spicy Buldak salmon poke with added steak, a 3:7 salad-to-oat brown rice base, and no red onion for 17,500 won. Verdict: A satisfying choice when you want spicy salmon and meat in one bowl.

Photo introducing a visit to a poke restaurant near Seolleung Station

Eating Korean food or gukbap (rice soup) every day can feel a little heavy, but if I have only salad, I get hungry again so quickly in the afternoon haha. So that day, I wanted a filling meal while still getting some vegetables, and I went looking for a good poke spot near Seolleung Station—then visited Hola Poke Seolleung Branch.

It is in the Seolleung Station restaurant alley, where lots of office workers come and students from Jinseon Girls' High School can easily stop by too. The HolaPoke sign is easy to spot.

Buldak salmon poke with added steak

While looking over the menu, the Buldak salmon poke caught my eye most. I usually love salmon and a little spice too, so there was no need to think twice about this one haha.

Menu selection for Buldak salmon poke

But I wanted steak too... so I added steak as well. I chose a base of 3 parts salad and 7 parts oat brown rice, and left out the red onion that comes with it. Being able to adjust the base and toppings exactly to my taste is definitely one of the great things about poke. Buldak salmon poke was ₩14,000, plus ₩3,500 for steak—₩17,500 in total!

The Buldak salmon and steak combination

With steak added to the salmon, there were generous protein toppings, so it felt less like eating a salad and more like having a proper meal! The Buldak salmon had a spicy sauce, making it much more appetite-whetting than regular salmon poke.

The Buldak sauce went so well with the tender salmon.

There were little pops of corn throughout, and eating it with the vegetables and oat brown rice gave it a nice variety of textures too.

And the added steak! I was really glad I added it. The chew of the meat made it feel noticeably more substantial than eating salmon alone.

A bite of spicy salmon, then steak, then everything mixed together with the vegetables and rice—it was seriously filling!!

Protein from lentils too!!

I am not very good at making sure I eat seaweed, but it tasted even better this way... You can choose to leave out the seaweed in the options too, so if you do not like it, feel free to select that~~~

If, like me, you love salmon but cannot give up meat either haha, Buldak salmon poke with added steak is a combination worth trying. With spicy salmon and meat together, it felt like I got both great flavor and a filling meal!
