This time I visited Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch (금등어 달서구 직영점), located in Jincheon Food Town.

It's a place where you can enjoy a generous spread centered on moist grilled fish, along with jeyuk bokkeum (stir-fried pork), kkomak muchim (cockle salad), and handmade banchan — so I wanted to recommend it to anyone looking for a good hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant in Dalseo.

Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch is a large store of about 200 pyeong, which makes it comfortable for family meals and also seemed decent for group gatherings or company dinners. Parking is available at Jincheon Food Town's 1st floor parking lot as well as the 3rd and 4th floor lots, so it was convenient to visit by car.

When dining out with parents these days, taste matters, but so does checking whether parking and seating are comfortable. Considering all that, this was a good spot for a parents' meal.

Geumdeungeo's signature menu is, of course, the grilled fish!

They grill it for 5 minutes in a 400-degree wood-fired oven, so you get fish that's golden and crisp outside while staying moist inside.

For the grilled mackerel in particular, they use nuruk salt instead of regular salt — natural sea salt from New Zealand's clean waters, fermented for 48 hours and dried for another 24 hours.

Thanks to the nuruk salt, the saltiness is toned down while the fish's natural flavor comes through even more, so anyone who already likes grilled fish should be even more satisfied.

With tidy Korean side dishes, warm rice, and grilled fish all together, I could see why so many people come here looking for a good hanjeongsik restaurant in Dalseo.

Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch isn't just about the grilled fish — there's a variety of dishes to go alongside it.

The charcoal-grilled jeyuk bokkeum (stir-fried pork) is cooked with care, staying true to the basic rule that warm food should be served warm, and the special kkomak muchim uses big, plump cockles tossed in a secret sauce.

I also liked that you can freely help yourself to handmade banchan made in-house from seasonal ingredients at the self-serve bar.

I prefer places where every single side dish gets attention, rather than ones where only the main dish is good — and this place really felt like a proper banchan restaurant!

Once you set the table and pick and choose from all the sides, it feels as filling as a home-cooked meal, which makes it a good option for lunch too.

There's also a separate drink corner where you can get Starbucks coffee and beverages, so you don't have to move to another café after your meal — convenient for gatherings or family outings.

For special occasions, the set meals looked like a good option too. The A Dajeong Set is ₩38,000 per person and comes with crab, scallop, shrimp, baby octopus, along with marinated shrimp, boiled octopus, sea squirt, and more. The B Hwalgi Set is ₩45,000 per person and adds live abalone for an even more generous spread. The C Pungseong Set is ₩55,000 per person, a premium composition that adds live octopus and raw scallop, and seemed well suited for anniversaries or family gatherings.

It seemed like a good choice whether you're bringing parents who love a clean Korean spread, wanting a proper family meal, or looking for a spot for a group gathering or company dinner.

There are so many dining options these days, but sometimes you just want a proper meal of warm rice with grilled fish and side dishes.

For those times, I think Geumdeungeo Dalseo Branch is a great place to visit.

From wood-fired grilled fish including mackerel to charcoal-grilled jeyuk bokkeum, kkomak muchim, and various handmade banchan — it was a satisfying meal enjoyed all in one place.

It's easy to visit from both Jincheon-dong and Wolseong-dong, so I'd also recommend it to anyone looking for a good restaurant near Sinwolseong.
