After ordering, the basic side dishes were set out first.

The first round of side dishes is served for you, and after that you're free to help yourself to as much as you like from the self-serve bar.

Pepper and chili paste (dadaegi) are on every table, so you can season to taste.

Our orders came out and staff brought them straight to our table. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and since the noodles are aged, it takes a bit longer to boil.

First, my friend's chicken noodle soup (dak kalguksu). Half a whole chicken goes in, making it the ultimate summer restorative dish.

The broth is made from long-simmered chicken bones with perilla seeds mixed into the noodles, and it's already seasoned when it arrives. If you want unseasoned broth, just ask staff and they'll bring some. The noodles were bouncy and soft, and the broth was clear, refreshing, and clean-tasting.

Dak-gomtang served with the rice already in the broth

I ordered the dak-gomtang (chicken rice soup).

Just like the kalguksu, it came with half a whole chicken. The rice is already mixed into the soup, so it was really easy to just spoon straight from the bowl.

You eat the chicken meat with a light dip in salt. The meat was very tender, with no gamey smell, and the flavor was clean and delicious.

Eight chewy dumplings and 1,000-won ice cream after the meal

Here's the chewy dumplings we ordered as a side. You get 8 pieces total, the wrapper had an impressively chewy texture, and the filling was packed full. The juices burst perfectly in your mouth.

We finished off with a cold soda.
