Solo dining in Yeouido: hairtail set with grilled pork side added
In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido is a Korean grilled fish restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul, cooking fish in a clay oven over 500 degrees. Eating solo, the writer ordered the grilled hairtail set with an added grilled pork side, and the hairtail came out roughly the size of five fists, alongside a self-bar with tteokbokki and refillable japchae. With a dedicated solo-dining table, it made for a hearty single meal for Yeouido office workers.

Today I visited a Korean restaurant in Yeouido that's also great for solo dining — Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido 🐟

What I ordered: grilled hairtail set with added pork
The menu has all kinds of clay-oven grilled fish sets~ They grill the fish in a clay oven over a whopping 500 degrees, so it's crispy outside, tender inside! I went for the 'grilled hairtail set' as my fish set, and

From the side add-on menu I ordered 'added grilled pork' 👉👈 Since this is a Yeouido Korean restaurant, I was too curious about the pork taste not to add it 🤤

A self-bar with even tteokbokki, plus japchae and lotus root refills
And there's also a self-bar~ There was even tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) on the self-bar, I was shocked 🫢 And the japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) side dish was refillable too! The lotus root there was so delicious I refilled it twice 👉👈

The grilled hairtail set, five fists' worth of fish
And then my ordered grilled hairtail set arrived — a spread that made me understand why this place is called a Yeouido Korean restaurant 😳 Truly the best spread for someone who loves Korean food >_<

I've never seen a grilled fish place serve hairtail this big,, the size of the grilled hairtail was really enormous 🫢 I think it's about five of my fists in size 😳
Lettuce for wrapping also came out with it! I came solo today, but I think this is such a great, hearty meal for office workers around Yeouido 🤤 It's not in the photo, but there's also a solo-dining table, and a lot of people were dining alone here after work.

And each table has ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) and wasabi already on it — being able to grab it yourself without calling staff felt so nice 🤭
How was the side grilled pork?
Not knowing the hairtail would be this huge 👉👈 I'd already ordered the pork side dish (though honestly, even if I'd known the hairtail was huge, I probably still would've ordered it..)

Maybe because it's a Yeouido Korean restaurant, but the pork looked mouthwatering from the visuals alone 🥺🤤 So glossy and vivid,, 🩷 I've been eating pork every weekend for two weeks straight now 🤤 I should note down Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido as a good spot for pork too >_<📝
So today's solo-dining spread was complete~ It came out so generously that even solo, I was 100% satisfied 🤤
Pork really is love~~🤤

Maybe because the hairtail is grilled in the clay oven, it really came out crispy outside and tender inside 🤤🐟🤍 You know how putting this over rice means a whole bowl disappears in no time?!?!? 🤤🤤

But if you add the pork too, it's two bowls gone 👉👈🤭 Wrapping the pork in lettuce like this was so delicious 💗

A bit embarrassing, but here's the photo of an empty hairtail plate and empty pork plate 👉👈 As someone who loves Korean food, this was a Yeouido Korean restaurant that hit exactly my taste 🤤 If you're craving grilled fish Korean food, give it a visit 💗
