Seongbuk beer bar for wings and grilled squid: Dosi Beer
In short
Dosi Beer Seongsin Women's University Branch is a casual beer bar near Seongsin Women's University in Seongbuk, Seoul. We had two Stella draft beers with wings and grilled squid, and its many two- and four-person tables looked convenient for a small group. Verdict: a good spot for one or two relaxed beers after dinner.

There is still a little summer feeling left in the daytime lately, but once the sun goes down, the breeze is gradually changing. On days like this, rather than having a heavy dinner, sometimes I just want a cold draft beer with a simple snack, so this time I visited Dosi Beer Seongsin Women's University Branch (도시맥주 성신여대점) near Seongsin Women's University.

A casual beer-bar atmosphere in the Seongsin Women's University area
Perhaps because the area around Seongsin Women's University is a university district, there are lots of places where you can comfortably sit down for a drink rather than somewhere overly formal or heavy. Dosi Beer was also closer to a beer bar with quite a casual feel.
Inside, the brick-accented interior had plush sofa-style seats. The seating was mainly made up of tables for two and four, so it was a comfortable setup for a small visit with friends or a date. It has two floors, and there is a separate restroom too!

The overall atmosphere is a little different from the polished bars or moody wine bars you often see these days. It has that light, relaxed university-district mood, so it looked easy to come with several people, chat noisily, and drink beer without feeling any pressure.

Especially once the weather gets a little cooler, I thought it would be nice to come by in the evening for a cold beer, share a few snacks, and spend a short while here.

Rather than a place to sit drinking for a long time, it felt well suited to stopping by for a second round after dinner, or having one or two beers casually before the end of an outing!

What are the draft-beer snack options like?
There was more variety on the menu than I expected.

From chicken and wings that go well with draft beer to grilled dishes and simple snacks, there were quite a few choices. If several people visit, it seemed easy to choose according to everyone's preferences.

Two Stella draft beers and wings
What we ordered that day was two Stella draft beers, wings, and grilled squid. Since we had come for beer, we ordered the draft beer first. Two Stella draft beers.

Cold Stella draft beer poured into glasses. At places that sell draft beer, I quietly find myself paying attention to how frequently the beer is ordered, and that day customers kept coming into the bar to a certain extent.

I happened to see them replacing the draft-beer keg too, and with a reasonable turnover of customers, it seemed like the draft beer was being steadily consumed. On a day when I come out for beer, little things like that catch my eye for no reason.

The wings we ordered as a beer snack. The first snack was wings~~~ They are, after all, one of the safest choices to have with beer. They were easy to pick up one by one with one hand while holding a beer glass in the other, so they were convenient to eat while chatting too.

At a drinking gathering, snacks that are too heavy or too large can sometimes feel like a burden. A dish like wings that you can pick up one at a time goes nicely with beer.
Grilled squid, a clean-tasting accompaniment
The second thing we ordered was grilled squid.

It had a different character from the fried wings, so when ordering two snacks, it was nice that the dishes did not overlap. Choose one crispy, more filling dish and another grilled dish, and they are good to alternate between while drinking beer.

For an order like ours that day—two draft beers with a few snacks—I felt that being able to make the menu combination varied was one of Dosi Beer's strengths.

A good place for a casual beer
Dosi Beer Seongsin Women's University Branch had a strongly relaxed, casual university-district beer-bar atmosphere overall. So rather than for someone looking for a quiet, atmospheric bar, it seems better suited to people who want to chat comfortably with friends over draft beer or share a variety of snacks.

There were especially quite a lot of tables for two and four, so it did not seem burdensome to visit for a small gathering. With such a varied menu, it also looked convenient for a larger group to choose and order the snacks each person wants.

At a time like now, when the evening breeze is gradually getting cooler, it could be nice to stop in lightly after work or class, order one snack with one or two draft beers, and chat for a little while. That day, we had two Stella draft beers with wings and grilled squid, and this visit to Dosi Beer Seongsin Women's University Branch was closer to a casual occasion for enjoying beer than a big night of drinking.
