Korean BBQ near Sindang Station, salchisal swap: Beefjeong Gogi Jip

In short

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul, that brings in beef from Majang-dong every morning. For a boyfriend's birthday the writer ordered the Beefjeong Set Medium for 2-3 people (toshisal skirt, jebichuri chuck flap and galbisal rib meat), swapped the galbisal for salchisal top blade, and added the best-selling Beefjeong Burger at 5,000 won. The owner sent out a bowl of miyeokguk (seaweed soup) for the birthday, making it a 200% satisfying meal.

On special days you've gotta go for beef, right — that's just the rule?! Today was my boyfriend's birthday, so I rushed over to a beef spot I'd heard has insanely good quality, sourcing meat fresh from Majang-dong every day, haha. The meat melted in my mouth and the owner had such great energy — totally my type. Here's my thorough review of Beefjeong in Sindang!

Where is Beefjeong Gogi Jip in Sindang, and what are the hours?

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is on the 1st floor of 6 Toegye-ro 74-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, near Sindang Station. It's open daily from 16:00 to 24:00, last order at 23:00, with high-quality beef delivered straight from Majang-dong, group seating (great for work dinners), and reservations available.

Since it's right by Sindang Station, it was super easy to find, and the moment I arrived, the clean, hip exterior caught my eye.

At first I wondered if the owner was from Culinary Class Wars season 2, but it turned out below that he's just a devoted fan of the show, lol. His sense of humor was already great, but honestly, he's so good he could actually go on the show.

What the inside of Beefjeong Gogi Jip looks like

The inside of Beefjeong Gogi Jip was pleasant and spacious. There were people at the tables so I couldn't take many photos of the interior without getting in their way. There were a lot of group customers the day I went, so I mostly just photographed the walls, sigh.

The tables had generous spacing and the ventilation was great, so I didn't have to worry about smelling like meat afterward and could eat comfortably. The interior is modern too, so I thought this place would be perfect for a beef dinner or wedding invitation gathering near Sindang Station! Even though it's a meat restaurant, it has such a trendy vibe that my excitement was already building before I even walked in.

Beefjeong Set Medium: swapping galbisal for salchisal

Menu board at Beefjeong Gogi Jip

We ordered the 'Beefjeong Set Medium,' perfect for 2-3 people! Today's cuts were toshisal (skirt steak), jebichuri (chuck flap tail), and galbisal (rib meat), but since I love salchisal (top blade) so much, I hesitantly asked the owner, and he happily swapped the galbisal for salchisal! I also made sure to add the 'Beefjeong Burger,' marked BEST on the side menu, since I heard we absolutely had to try it.

The owner said he picks up beef from Majang-dong every single morning, and maybe that's why it has such a strong, fresh, natural beef flavor!

Side dishes and pajeori scallion salad made at the table

When the side dishes were set out after ordering, wow — there were so many kinds, and each one was so neatly presented and delicious. Every dish was perfectly suited for eating alongside the meat.

The pajeori (scallion salad) was tossed fresh right when we ordered it, so the sesame oil aroma and flavor were outstanding!

You know how at good restaurants the water is never plain — it's always barley tea or hutgae water, lol.

How do the toshisal, jebichuri and salchisal taste?

And now for the star of the show — the beef!! Since it's hand-selected straight from Majang-dong, the marbling and color were incredible.

Once it hit the grill, the savory beef aroma was absolutely insane.

You know beef is best when it's only lightly grilled!

The toshisal burst with juicy, chewy texture, and the jebichuri was fantastic even just dipped in salt — the chew and beefy aroma were outstanding!

And the salchisal I swapped in melted in my mouth like cotton candy the moment I took a bite — totally satisfying.

Hanwoo (Korean beef) really needs no explanation — it's the ultimate meat for recovering your energy, so I just kept eating and eating.

Hanwoo tastes amazing paired with the delicious side dishes too.

My boyfriend ended up having a drink too — apparently a somaek can from Wonsoju that actually tastes like a proper somaek in one can! I couldn't drink it because I'm on medication for laryngitis 😭, but beef with somaek is honestly an irresistible combo.

Finishing off with the toshisal juices and potatoes grilled in beef fat! Two to three servings really is right for beef — it filled us up more than expected!

The birthday miyeokguk (seaweed soup) from the owner

One more touching moment! I had casually mentioned we came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and the owner at Beefjeong didn't forget — he brought out a birthday miyeokguk just for him! Even my usually gruff Gyeongsang-do boyfriend was genuinely touched and couldn't stop smiling this time!

Just like I'd seen on his Instagram, the owner really is a total social butterfly — such a great personality, and he warms up to people fast! Thanks to him, the whole meal had such a great, fun atmosphere!

Beefjeong Burger: why 5,000 won makes sense

Last but not least, the Beefjeong Burger everyone was raving about! I wondered why it was so praised and priced at ₩5,000, but it turns out the patty is made from kkotdeungsim (ribeye), anchang (skirt), toshisal, and more?

You really have to try this. The combination of fluffy bread and a juicy patty was fantastic enough to make me completely give up on my already-failing diet, lol. Meat then a burger? I thought it might be too heavy at first, but one bite completely convinced me.

You can get this for free just by leaving a receipt review, so make sure you do it and get one. It's so good you could easily eat four. The owner said he loses money the more he sells — and honestly, I totally get why.

Final verdict on Beefjeong Gogi Jip in Sindang

Excellent Majang-dong-quality meat, delicious side dishes, and a friendly, thoughtful owner on top of it all! The whole meal felt perfectly healing. I went for my boyfriend's birthday date and left 200% satisfied — next time I'm definitely pushing for this as our company dinner spot! If you're looking for a genuinely great beef restaurant near Sindang, I highly recommend Beefjeong!
