Seongsu dessert café during a pop-up wait: 9 pm madeleines, Notldun

I'm not a professional baker, but I love watching videos of people mixing dough, resting it and baking, so I know how hard it is to get a madeleine's belly button (the little bump) to puff up nicely. At Notldun (노틀던), a dessert café near Seoulsup, I spotted perfectly shaped madeleines and tried several flavors, and they were so good!

What was left at Notldun one hour before closing?

I dropped by the Seongsu café about an hour before closing, and what remained was mostly the Signature Blanc cake shaped like the Notldun logo, plus the madeleines. It's a famous dessert spot, but maybe because I came so late, there wasn't much to choose from.

Next time I want to go in the daytime and try the other things!

Where is Notldun, and how do you get there from Ttukseom Station?

Notldun, a Seoulsup dessert favorite, is 605 m from Exit 8 of Ttukseom Station. The shop on the floor below is a different business, so don't get confused: just take the stairs up one floor.

I thought, maybe you order downstairs and carry it up? So I went down, but the menu was different. I'd been told it was a dessert café, and with no desserts in the showcase I was totally baffled. You, though, can head straight to the Notldun café.

Notldun pickup reservations and cake menu

Notldun uses Catchtable (a Korean reservation app), so if you want pickup, it's best to reserve through the app.

The Signature Blanc (white chocolate) and Noix (chocolate cake) come in whole sizes too, and the pistachio cake seems to be famous as well? Next time I'll try the Pistachio Festival menu.

Inside Notldun and its opening hours

Notldun isn't only for packed pickup; it has tables, so you can eat in. It's open every day from 11 am to a late 22:30. I had put my name down for the G-Dragon PMO Toy Story pop-up queue and had time to kill, and since I wanted a tasty dessert somewhere, I ended up here.

Maybe because I came around 9 pm, the popular desserts were already gone, but

the Signature Noix cake, ₩14,0 (as written in the original post), was still there.

Luckily plenty of madeleines were left, so I ordered three madeleines and one drink each.

Notldun madeleine prices and gift boxes

Notldun madeleines are all ₩4,500 whatever the flavor, and a 5-piece gift box is ₩28,0 (as written in the original post). Financiers can also be gift-boxed as a 7-type selection.

Dessert shops need proper workspace, and through the clear window at Notldun you can see it's clean. The window is covered in celebrity autographs, which was fun to look at too.

Notldun decaf drinks for a late-night visit

On the coffee menu you can switch to decaf beans for +₩500, and there are 3 decaf teas too, so even a late visit means you can pick a drink without worry.

We both ordered a decaf iced Americano made light, so the color looks a bit different from a usual iced Americano. They bring drinks and desserts to your table, and told us we could just leave everything there when we finished.

How did Notldun's lemon, vanilla and Earl Grey madeleines taste?

I started with the lemon madeleine, pleasantly fresh and tangy. I'd had beef for dinner beforehand, so it was perfect timing.

Notldun's madeleines are so soft that they cut easily just by the knife passing through!

I picked the vanilla madeleine too, and the vanilla bean came through more.

Last came the Earl Grey madeleine, and I enjoyed it just as much. Notldun, a Seongsu dessert café and a pastry boutique by two chefs, is worth a visit! Next time I'll try the mille-feuille, financiers and the cakes.
