Yongin Cheoin-gu sundaeguk restaurant: spicy set, Yeonnal Gyeongseong
In short
Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Maseong IC Branch is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant on Seongsan-ro in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, right by the Maseong IC exit. On a chilly day the writer ordered the spicy sundaeguk set, stirred rice into a peppery broth loaded with sundae and pork, and refilled the side dishes at the self-serve banchan bar. With its own parking and a roomy dining hall, Yeonnal Gyeongseong is an easy gukbap stop if you're driving in with a baby.

The weather turned chilly and I suddenly craved a hot bowl of gukbap (soup with rice), so I went looking for good spots in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, and ended up at Gyeongseong Sundaeguk near Maseong IC haha. I get sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) cravings sometimes, but this time I wanted something spicier than the plain version, so I ordered the spicy sundaeguk set!

Especially if you're heading toward Everland or moving around the Cheoin-gu area of Yongin and looking for somewhere to eat, this place fits nicely into your route!

Parking and what the dining room is like
There was space to park, so it was easy to visit by car, and the restaurant was bigger than I expected, making it comfortable for a family meal. These days I go out to eat with my baby a lot, so easy parking matters more than you'd think haha.

The menu, from a bowl of sundaeguk to the full set

As you'd expect from a sundaeguk restaurant, sundaeguk is the main event, with a few options to pick from depending on your taste. I went back and forth and ended up ordering the spicy sundaeguk set!

Sundaeguk alone is already filling, but the set comes with extra dishes to go alongside it, which is nice when you want a more substantial meal. I usually like eating a few things together rather than just one dish even with gukbap, so I went with the set haha.

How spicy is the broth in the spicy sundaeguk set?

After a short wait, the piping hot spicy sundaeguk arrived, still bubbling~~ Just from the color of the broth, you could tell it was properly spicy haha.

It was packed with sundae and meat, so the toppings were quite generous, and the broth was hot enough to pair perfectly with rice. The soup was fiery but not overwhelming once you mixed in rice — the kind of spicy that keeps your spoon moving!
I like seasoning my gukbap with chili paste or perilla powder to taste — I tried it plain first, then adjusted little by little, and the flavor changed each time. Sundaeguk really is best eaten piping hot hahaha.
Why the set meal makes for a more filling lunch

And I think ordering the set that day was the right call! Having the spicy sundaeguk together with the set menu items made for a properly full meal. A spoonful of soup, a bite from the set, then some kimchi — that combo was just right! Sundaeguk really can't be without kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and kimchi haha.

The banchan came out with the meal, and whatever ran low could be topped up at the self-serve bar, which was convenient — you take as much as you need!
