Self-BBQ at Site 7, La Grills in Pogok-eup, Yongin: 3-hour pork neck

Camping is too much work, but glamping just to eat barbecue feels too heavy too — when you're torn like that, a simple 3-hour self-barbecue session is just great.

Location and parking at La Grills Self BBQ

La Grills Self BBQ (라그릴스 셀프바베큐) is in Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. I booked a few days ahead for the 5pm slot but... arrived around 6pm. There's a big dedicated parking lot with a clean paved surface, which made things easy.

Of course, you grill and eat for 3 hours in your own separate barbecue space... and what's unusual is that there's a pool too, so in summer you can enjoy water play with the kids — a pretty novel spot. They also run a separate pension block, and I could see overnight pension guests around as well.

What are the facilities like at Site 7?

The site we booked today was Site 7. It has an awning installed so rain isn't a problem for barbecuing, and everything was clean and stocked exactly where you'd need it, so there was no hassle using it.

Picking meat and extras at the information desk

Once you park at La Grills and head to the main information desk, they confirm your reservation, and then you can use the meat and self-serve side dish corners.

Pork neck and pork belly come packed in roughly 500g units, so just pick what you need. Beyond that, you can also grab sausages or anything else you need and put it in your basket.

You can grab as many barbecue scissors or tongs as you need. As for other stuff — ramyeon, snacks, and so on — it's like a convenience store where you buy extra if you need it, haha.

Alcohol and drinks are all prepped in various options too, so you really can just show up empty-handed. Just know you can't bring your own meat or alcohol ^^

Charcoal ready ahead of time, pork neck 500g for ₩45,000

After confirming the reservation and buying what we needed at the information desk, we came back to our seat and they'd already prepped the charcoal for us in the meantime.

We went with pork neck today haha. The price was around ₩45,000 for 500g of pork neck. The quality was good and the portion wasn't small either — perfect for the two of us.

You can keep grabbing side dishes from the self-serve corner, which is all included in the entry fee — kimchi, scallion salad, ssamjang, garlic, peppers, lettuce for wraps, and so on.

They also set us up with a Shin Ramyeon and a bibim guksu, since no barbecue is complete without noodles... haha.

We got cold beer and water, and they thoughtfully gave it to us in a bucket packed with ice haha.

My wife wanted chicken skewers so we bought some extra — they were frozen, so I figured we could just grill them straight without thawing, right? Haha.

The charcoal was good, so both the meat and the chicken skewers grilled up really well. It feels so much easier than camping since there's less to actually do.

Air conditioning, kitchen towels, and table recycling

Each site has its own separate air conditioning unit installed, so it's comfortable to use even in summer.

Tissues and kitchen towels are attached right at the site, which was convenient.

It's worth checking the facility guide... and recycling is just as simple: sort it on the site table and you're done. No need to carry things back and forth outside. As the site map shows, the sites are arranged around a central pool, so it never feels crowded and everything is easy to use.

Lights after dark, plus a seasonal Halloween event

Looks like this was set up just for the season — a Halloween event, complete with sound effects. Kids love it.

Once it hit 7pm, the barbecue grounds looked even prettier thanks to the lighting. It's set up so you can take all kinds of photos, and everywhere you point the camera turns out well. We visited on the Friday 5pm slot, and it looked like almost every site was booked.

Who is this good for?

When camping feels like too much hassle but you still want a light camping vibe, La Grills Self BBQ is a really good choice. It seems especially great if you have kids. In spring and fall it gives you that camping mood, and in summer it's a great space for pool time plus barbecue — recommended.
