Chinese restaurant at Suwon Station: chili shrimp, Mirim Yangjang
In short
Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch is a Peking duck Chinese restaurant on the 3rd floor of Time Villas Suwon, the mall connected to Suwon Station. Around 6 p.m. on a weekday, the order was the half Peking duck set (59,000 won) and chili shrimp (31,000 won), and an order mix-up brought a free gochu japchae (pepper and pork stir-fry) to wrap in steamed flower buns. The half Peking duck set alone is generous enough for 3–4 people, and its jjamppong and fried rice are main-dish portions rather than sides.

Mirim Yangjang storefront and how to get there from Suwon Station

Mirim Yangjang is inside Time Villas, which connects to Suwon Station, so it was really easy to find. It's great for a meal in the middle of shopping, and a handy spot to meet someone, so access is excellent.

In front of the restaurant, ducks (the Peking duck is the star here) are displayed in a big glass window. They're for eating, right? ?_? The sight is so striking that everyone passing by took a look. I went on a weekday around 6 p.m., and mealtimes seemed busy, so I'd book ahead.
What's the atmosphere like at Mirim Yangjang?

True to its name, the interior is themed on a tailor's shop (yangjangjeom), and I loved it. Red-toned walls, tables and props are arranged naturally, so the mood is clearly different from an ordinary Chinese restaurant. The lighting is soft too, so it'd suit a family meal, a date or a company dinner!

The kitchen is open, which made me trust the hygiene even more, and it was nice to watch the cooking~
Mirim Yangjang menu and what we ordered

The menu centers on Peking duck with a range of other Chinese dishes, and the sets are well put together, so a group could easily try a bit of everything. Here's what I ordered that day.
- Half Peking duck set ₩59,000 (half Peking duck, jjamppong, fried rice)
- Chili shrimp ₩31,000
- Cola and Sprite, ₩2,000 each
The portions were bigger than expected, enough for 3–4 people.
How does the Peking duck at Mirim Yangjang taste?

The Peking duck in the half duck set caught my eye right away with its glossy shine. It came with thin wheat pancakes, shredded scallion, cucumber and a dipping sauce, all in one set.

The thinly sliced duck has crisp skin and juicy meat, and there's a faint smoky... or maybe herbal? aroma that isn't overpowering and tastes lovely.

I put cucumber and scallion on a pancake, added the special sauce and took a bite wrap-style. The salty, nutty flavors went together really well.

It's only half a duck, but there was plenty, so it was much more filling than I expected.
Is the chili shrimp at Mirim Yangjang spicy?

The chili shrimp (₩31,000) was coated in a vivid red sauce that looked delicious, but it wasn't as spicy as it looked.

The first thing I noticed on the first bite was the chewy texture of the batter! It's crisp outside but still chewy inside, and the shrimp were huge and bouncy, so it was fun to bite into. The sweet, slightly spicy chili sauce keeps you reaching for more, and it was even better with the vegetables underneath.
How are the jjamppong and fried rice in the duck set?

The jjamppong in the half duck set looked hearty from the red broth alone. The seafood aroma was much stronger than in the jjamppong at a typical Chinese restaurant.

The broth had smoky wok flavor and seafood freshness at the same time, and a deep, rich savoriness lingered in my mouth toward the end. It was thick and heavy rather than hot-spicy. There was plenty of seafood and the noodles were nicely springy, so sipping the broth between bites of duck was a really good combination.

The fried rice looked plain, but after one bite I thought, "This place is a fried rice destination;"

A faint smoky wok aroma rose up, the savory depth of oyster sauce had soaked into every grain, and the rice was stir-fried fluffy and loose, so the texture was great. If you mix in a little of the jajang (black bean) sauce served alongside, it gets even nuttier!
Free gochu japchae (pepper pork stir-fry) with flower buns

There was a mistake during ordering, so Mirim Yangjang gave me a pepper-pork stir-fry (gochujapchae) on the house. It had a rich oyster sauce savoriness, tender meat and crunchy vegetables. Wrapped in the flower buns (kkotppang, steamed buns) served with it, it was so harmonious and delicious~
Verdict: is Mirim Yangjang a good Chinese restaurant near Suwon Station?
If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant near Suwon Station or in Time Villas, go to Mirim Yangjang Time Villas Suwon Branch! Since Peking duck is the main attraction, the duck quality was good, and meal dishes like the jjamppong and fried rice never felt like sides.
Above all, even half a Peking duck is plenty, so I think it works for family meals, group gatherings and company dinners near Suwon Station.
Would I return? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Next time I'd like to bring my parents and really enjoy the whole duck set.
Drawback: the air conditioning inside is weak.
From crisp-outside, juicy-inside Peking duck to hearty jjamppong and fluffy fried rice, a Suwon Station Chinese restaurant I was happy with!
