Songdo pasta and steak restaurant: wagyu hanger steak at Salt Steak
In short
Salt Steak is a pasta and steak restaurant on the ground floor of Building B at Songdo Central Park Prugio City, on the park side, in Yeonsu, Incheon. The writer, who has celebrated anniversaries at Salt Steak for 3 years, returned after 3 months for the house salad, chili con carne rigatoni, wagyu hanger steak grilled over oak wood fire, and carrot rapée dressed with perilla oil. Both the pasta and the steak at Salt Steak are excellent, making it a strong pick for an atmospheric date or anniversary dinner in Songdo.

Today's story is about Salt Steak (솔트스테이크), a Western-style pasta and steak restaurant near Songdo Central Park. I've been here too many times to count, so I'll be honest about it.

Near Songdo Central Park, Salt Steak serves high-quality pasta and steak at reasonable prices, so locals and tourists alike love it. (It's also my favorite restaurant in Songdo!)
The address is 137 Central Park Prugio City, 203 Ateusenteo-daero, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.
Where to park at Salt Steak and how to find it
For parking, use the underground or above-ground lot of the Songdo Central Park Prugio City building where the restaurant is. When you pay, tell them your license plate number and the free parking is applied. If you parked in the building, please don't forget to register your car 🙏
A tip if you parked on the above-ground level (2nd floor) or underground: Salt Steak is in Building B, so park on the Building B side and come down! We came down the Building B emergency stairs, and you'll see the restaurant's back door. Go out through it and Salt Steak is right there. It's not on the main road but on the park side, so head out toward the park~ Easy to find 💕

Salt Steak interior and seating
Inside, Salt Steak is cozy, with 5 tables for four and 2 bar-style seats (dajji-seok). The small size actually made it feel snug, and the stylish interior seems good for gatherings as well as anniversaries.

If you asked my boyfriend and me to pick our favorite restaurant in Songdo, we'd say Salt Steak without a second's thought. The atmosphere and the food are so good that we end up here every anniversary~ It's a secret that we came for his birthday this January and for my birthday in March too.. 😘
Isn't the place pretty? It's an open kitchen, so you can sneak a peek at the cooking, which is part of Salt Steak's charm~ The atmosphere is really so good 💙

Salt Steak menu and review event
The menu covers pasta, steak, salad, carrot rapée, sides that go well with steak, alcohol and drinks, with a short description for each dish. Order to suit your group and taste~ Honestly, everything here is delicious.
I came for my birthday in March, so this was my first visit in 3 months, and the menu had changed! The new menu is so classy and pretty 👍 I think it's been about 3 years since I found Salt Steak, and every time I come the taste and atmosphere are as consistent as ever, while the props and menu keep getting better. It's not even my shop, but I feel proud.. 💛
Salt Steak is currently running a review event, so if you enjoyed your meal, leave a review and get carrot rapée!
Maybe because we had a reservation, the table was already set with spoons, forks, knives and bowls for our party, and we were given cold water as soon as we sat down, which made a lovely first impression~~

Salt Steak bread and house-made spreads and pickles
The bread seems to be thinly sliced baguette baked in the oven, so it's closer to a cracker than bread, but since you can only get it here, I enjoyed it even more. The bread is good, but the spread made at Salt Steak is really delicious~ I could taste butter and lemon together, and it was sweet, smooth and nutty, perfect with the bread 💙
From the whole-grain mustard that goes so well with steak to the pickles made in-house!! Everything here is made in the restaurant, which makes it feel extra special and tasty.

House salad
The house salad has arugula, cheese, tomato and rusk, and went well with the mains. It was fresh, clean and tangy.
It's good before the main meal (the writer also felt it helps keep blood sugar down), and it balanced the strongly seasoned steak and pasta, so it was perfect to nibble on between bites!

What does the chili con carne rigatoni taste like?
The chili con carne rigatoni is pasta in a Mexican-style American stew sauce, made by simmering ground beef for a long time with tomato, chili seasoning and spices. The deep meaty flavor filling my mouth and the pleasant spiciness really stood out!!

The rigatoni comes with a grilled lemon, which you squeeze to taste~ My boyfriend and I usually like lemon, so the staff squeezed it for us, and the sourness definitely made the savory flavor even better!!
It isn't just tomato sauce stir-fried like ordinary pasta; it's made by simmering meat in a special sauce, and the umami was seriously impressive. Arugula on top of the thick, rich sauce adds a fragrant note~ It's not the tomato sauce pasta we usually know but has a gochujang-base feel, so even people who struggle with rich, heavy pasta would probably enjoy it, and the plentiful meat, like jangjorim (soy-braised beef), is great to eat along with it! Salt Steak's pasta really stands apart from other places.

Wood-fire wagyu hanger steak: how was the fire aroma?
The highlight of Salt Steak is the wood-fire wagyu hanger steak, with a smoky aroma like being at a campsite and the deep meaty flavor of beef. Hanger steak is the skirt-type cut (toshi-sal) that has the tenderness of tenderloin and the rich beef flavor of sirloin at once. It's grilled directly over an oak wood fire, not on a regular pan or grill, so the smokiness and faint barbecue flavor felt high-class!
Five kinds of salt come with it, so enjoy them to your taste!
With the ghee butter mashed potatoes and herbs as garnish, the flavor was excellent, as you'd expect from a steak made with good ingredients, and the doneness was just right! (You can choose your doneness.)
I don't like the smell of blood much, so I chose medium, and at medium I didn't notice much of that smell and got a tender texture too, so I enjoyed it! (Choose your doneness to your own taste.)
It's good dipped in salt, but you can also try it with whole-grain mustard, mashed potatoes and more, which I liked even better! It melted the moment it went in my mouth, and as a juicy, chewy cut, the texture when chewing was really appealing~ Salt Steak isn't only good at pasta; the steak is good too, so be sure to order the steak!!

Perilla oil carrot rapée
The perilla oil carrot rapée is made with carrot, perilla oil dressing and orange beet purée. Under the bright orange carrot rapée is a red, glossy orange beet purée, and the tangy rapée with perilla oil dressing had a subtle yet deep nuttiness that stood out!
It's good on its own, good on bread, and with steak it cuts the richness completely, so try it in different ways :)
Coke Zero
Even the Coke Zero at the end was perfect! It doesn't come with just ice and cola but with a lemon too, which was nice and tangy alongside.
Why I recommend Salt Steak for a Songdo date or anniversary
Even the after-meal candy was perfect at Salt Steak 🥩 If you're looking for a delicious restaurant with a great atmosphere in Songdo, I strongly recommend it.. Honestly, the pasta is so good it could be on Culinary Class Wars (when the show was at its peak, I even asked the owner why he didn't go on, it's that real a gem). The pasta is top-level and can't be compared with ordinary restaurants, so if you come to Songdo, please visit!!!!! 💚👍
