Oracle card deck for daily readings: SoulGoddess

In short

SoulGoddess Oracle Cards are a 40-card oracle deck from Korea for checking a daily reading through goddess illustrations and messages. A tarot-card learner tested the magnetic hard-cover case, non-smudging gold foil, and shuffle feel. Verdict: a lovely pick for drawing a light daily message.

Do you believe in fate? I’m not a fatalist, but I do make a point of checking my daily fortune just for fun.

Maybe it’s because I loved the animation Cardcaptor Sakura when I was young, but I’ve always been very interested in tarot cards. I even bought tarot cards and studied card reading hard at one point.

And do you remember this? It was hugely popular too. On the cable-TV variety show Ask Us Anything, they would open a huge book and try to predict what would happen next. I remember that book, called Answers for My Life, selling well despite its high price.

Anyway, today’s product is an oracle card deck made by SoulClass, which provides tarot-card education and classes.

The delivery arrived. Rather than simply putting the product in a box, they sent it with air-cushion protective packaging.

SoulGoddess Oracle Cards

That’s the product name: SoulGoddess Oracle Cards. Soul means the spirit, and goddess means, well, a goddess. Each model on the cards is a goddess, and the cards are used to read your psychological and spiritual state, so I think that’s why they chose the name SoulGoddess.

Oracle cards are a type of fortune-telling card, like tarot cards. I’ll just share roughly what I know. Tarot cards have reversed and upright positions, and readings differ depending on their layout. With oracle cards, though, the meaning of each individual card matters more than the spread. So oracle cards are easier for beginners to approach than tarot cards.

Magnetic hard-cover case and card finish

Most paper cards, including tarot and oracle cards, are manufactured through Chinese OEM production. The same goes for board games, and the quality of products like these varies greatly according to how much is invested in manufacturing costs.

You can feel that SoulGoddess put a lot of effort into raising the product quality. First, the cards come in a sturdy, coated hard-cover box that opens magnetically.

This is the back of the card case. It says you can use the cards when you are facing an important choice or need peace and stability of mind, among other times.

Back of the SoulGoddess Oracle Cards case

Cards are often damaged depending on how their case opens. But being able to open this one magnetically is really nice. High-end tarot cards often come with a pouch, but even with a pouch, cards can get damaged while opening it and taking them out. So I like that this fitted case is included and is easy to open and close.

The black-and-yellow case is neat too.

Now, let’s look at the oracle cards. The cards have gold-foil borders, which make them feel very luxurious. Cheap gold-foil coating can rub off on your hands and isn’t very good, but this one doesn’t transfer onto your hands, which is nice.

There are 40 cards in total, featuring 40 goddesses. The gold-foil borders make them feel truly luxurious.

The card backs are also simple yet stylish in black and gold foil. The cards have air embossing as well, so they do not stick tightly together and can be shuffled smoothly and neatly.

Goddess card layout and size

Each card consists of three elements: the goddess’s name, an illustration of the goddess, and the card’s meaning.

Message from card No. 1, Mago

Let’s look at card No. 1: Mago. She is a goddess with an Eastern-looking image.

As a great creator, choose the universe you desire.

If I drew this card for my daily reading, it would mean that I have freedom in my choices. If I chose it while worrying over something, it means good fortune is with my choice.

Let’s look at the card size too. The cards are larger than standard playing cards. They take up about 80% of my palm.

Let’s look at the card layout. SoulGoddess is printed at the upper left, and the number is on the right. The main illustration is in the center, with the card’s meaning at the bottom.

I simply like everything about these cards—the illustrations, borders, and layout. Nothing feels out of place, and I’m satisfied with the soft images and their cohesive look.

Drawing a card for today’s reading

Let’s look at the meanings of a few cards. With oracle cards, the energy held by the cards is considered important. So it is important to connect with the cards while shuffling and drawing them. Looking through the deck, you can see that the messages are generally positive.

The illustrations are so beautiful.

Here they are held in my hand. Given the nature of SoulGoddess Oracle Cards, you would probably use them only when reading fortunes. But they look so nice and pretty that people will probably be quite envious when you read their fortunes for them.

The illustrations include goddesses from both East and West, which gives the deck a varied feel.

The imagery on each card differs to suit its goddess illustration, which makes it special.

Ungnyeo card drawn for today’s reading

Ta-da! This is the card I drew for today’s reading: Ungnyeo, a Korean goddess.

It was a worthwhile wait. Everything will find its proper place.

I hope the road ahead of me is as bright as the fortune I drew.
