Anseong large café for salt ciabatta and choco latte: Chat Baker

The weather's been so nice lately it feels like a waste to just stay home haha. So for a change of scenery I went for a drive and headed to a big bakery café in Gongdo, Anseong to eat some good bread ^0^

I love bread so I go on café tours pretty often, and this time Chat Baker hit my taste exactly the moment I walked in!! The space is inspired by jazz legend Chet Baker, so the vibe is amazing, and they apparently bake over 80 kinds of handmade bread fresh every day~ haha. Since I'm serious about good bread and drinks, here's my honest review of what I tried plus some useful tips for the place!

Where is Chat Baker, and what are the hours and parking?

Chat Baker is located at 3-dong 101-ho inside the 512 Square complex, 4391 Seodong-daero, Gongdo-eup, Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do ^-^ It's open daily from 9am to 11pm with last order at 10pm, so it's great for a relaxed late visit too.

Brunch and pasta orders are taken from 11am to 8pm~ The nearest subway is Pyeongtaek Station on Line 1, about 15–20 minutes by car, and if you're using public transit, get off at the 512 Square bus stop. There's no fixed closed day — it's open year-round.

There's a huge dedicated parking lot inside the complex, so I parked comfortably without any worries about spots haha

Inside the 500-pyeong space and its LP record mood

True to its 500-pyeong (about 1,650㎡) scale, the moment you walk in the ceilings are sky-high and sunlight pours through the floor-to-ceiling windows haha

On the first floor there's a water feature along the glass wall with clean water trickling down — just staring at it felt healing!!

There are no stairs, so it's easy for strollers or wheelchairs too, and it connects straight out to the lush outdoor terrace seats ^-^ Upstairs on the second floor, you can choose between spacious floor seating with green views or warm wood-toned seats, whichever suits your mood.

In one corner there's a tasteful setup with LP records, a listening station, a piano, and an LP-patterned rug, perfect for relaxing while listening to mellow jazz haha

They also hold regular live jazz performances on weekends, so that's great news for music lovers!

What we ordered at Chat Baker: an honest review

Chat Baker's breads sit in an automatic-door hygiene showcase so no dust gets in, which put my mind completely at ease!

Seeing all the beautifully displayed bread started a very happy dilemma haha After a lot of deliberation, I picked my favorite ciabatta varieties, salt bread, a dessert, and a cool drink to round things out!

Cheese ciabatta and salt ciabatta

The cheese ciabatta had that light yet chewy ciabatta texture done really well ^0^ The rolled cheese studded throughout releases a savory flavor with every bite, so I kept reaching for more without any guilt haha Highly recommend it if you're after a light, easy-on-the-stomach meal bread!

The salt ciabatta has a fluffy ciabatta base topped with a pop of salty pearl salt~ It adds just enough saltiness to what could otherwise be a plain bread, so it stays clean and never gets tiring haha

Salt bread and cheddar cheese rice salt bread

One bite of the plain salt bread and I instantly understood why this place is known for it ^-^! The outside is lightly crisp and the inside has a big, moist butter cavern running through it, with rich buttery aroma and salty pop working perfectly together!

The cheddar rice salt bread, made with rice flour dough, had an amazingly chewy texture! The rich cheddar cheese wrapping the bread brings a savory saltiness that combines with the buttery flavor for a heavier, more indulgent taste haha

Choco latte and pineapple lemon juice

The choco latte wasn't lightly sweet — it had a deep, rich cacao flavor like melted raw chocolate ^-^ Perfect as a sugar recharge on a tiring day!!

The pineapple lemon juice combines the natural sweet-tartness of pineapple with a refreshing lemon kick~ Sipping it between bites of heavy, sweet bread cleanses the palate completely — the pairing was really great!

Is Chat Baker worth the trip? Verdict and visiting tips

Chat Baker's brunch menu, things like pasta and gnocchi, is also top-notch, so you can handle a full meal plus dessert in one spot without moving haha If you order brunch, each drink gets 30% off, so definitely take advantage of that!
