Why I visited Iridescent in Seongsu

Iridescent is a Seongsu café I visited on a weekend after hearing it had unique desserts. I like trying new experiences, so I was wondering where to go this weekend, and then I heard a rumor about unusual desserts

and headed to Seongsu. I wanted something more memorable than ordinary coffee, and after reading reviews saying the atmosphere was perfect too, I decided to go. With its stylish interior and special menu, it always shows up on Seongsu café recommendation lists, so my expectations were high haha.

What makes the Iridescent menu so unusual?

The Iridescent menu is full of items with names that are anything but ordinary: citrus perilla leaf smoothie, blackberry granita, Matboswho Sushi Latte, and Like-Me-Like-a-Dumpling Latte. The citrus perilla leaf smoothie was the one I was most curious about, but the blackberry granita made me curious too, since I heard it was featured in a magazine. The latte names were special as well. The sushi latte doesn't taste like sushi, lol. It's chocolate cream topped with puffed rice, which made me laugh, and the dumpling latte isn't just a name: it's a sesame oil latte that maxes out the nutty flavor!!! Wow.

Iridescent's atmosphere and location

Iridescent is close to Seoulsup, so it's a perfect stop during a walk, and you'll see a Blue Ribbon sign right at the entrance. The moment I opened the door I felt the cozy atmosphere and thought I was really glad I came. The Blue Ribbon sign from the entrance boosted my trust too haha.

I'd heard it's run by a former barista from a 5-star hotel, and as soon as I stepped inside, the calm, refined interior left an impression. It's full of hip vibes

and yet the sunlight pouring through the big windows makes it comfortable to stay. Just looking around the space, I could see why so many people pick Iridescent as a recommended Seongsu café haha. The amazing harmony of flavors in your mouth felt like something you could only find here, and it left an impression,

How do the perilla smoothie and pepper tiramisu taste?

The highlights of Iridescent are definitely the signature drink, the perilla leaf smoothie, and the pepper tiramisu. Drinking perilla leaves felt strange at first, but one sip completely changed my mind. The fragrant perilla aroma plus fresh citrus was far more harmonious than I expected. If you like refreshing drinks, it'll totally be your thing!

My friend who came with me loves tiramisu, so we ordered the pepper tiramisu, and it had its own unique charm too.

The sweetness of the cream and the spicy aroma of pepper blended into a rich, refined flavor. It was a moment when I instantly understood why these two are so often mentioned as recommended Seongsu café menu items

The owner even tells you how to eat each dish

At Iridescent, when the owner serves each menu item, they explain the dish and even tell you how to eat it. It was all so fun haha. The friendly service and enjoyable experience really stuck with me. I was happy that the owner kindly explained each dish when serving. It wasn't just handing over food, but

carefully telling us how to eat it, which made me feel like I was getting special treatment. The props around the shop and the music playing were stylish too, so we chatted happily without noticing time pass. Besides the taste, the open space is full of plants, so it stimulates all five senses, and it more than deserves a spot as a recommended Seongsu café! I go to Seongsu often, and this felt like it could become my favorite café.

Is Iridescent worth visiting again?

Iridescent is a Seongsu café I visited out of curiosity and liked so much, for both taste and atmosphere, that I decided to come back. Before the visit I went purely out of curiosity, but after experiencing it myself I was satisfied with both, so I definitely want to return. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to spend a relaxed time with friends, family or a partner, enjoying special desserts in a special atmosphere in Seongsu.
