Moraenae Market sushi shop in Incheon, omakase dinner: Minyeong Hwareo

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang is a sushi spot everyone already knows. There's one near my place that I go to often, and it turns out there's also a branch inside Moraenae Market, which I hadn't visited in a while :) While picking up delicious things at the market, I grabbed some sushi too and solved dinner.

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch is located inside the main stretch of Moraenae Market, not in the little side alleys.

Where to park for Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang at Moraenae Market

There's no dedicated parking. Moraenae Market gets packed with cars, especially on weekends, so parking can be a hassle. You'll need to park at a nearby public lot.

There's a Guwol Market public parking lot nearby, but when I visited on a weekend, it was full too. Just a heads-up!!

Finding the shop on Moraenae Market's main street

Minyeong Hwareo Gongjang Moraenae Market Branch sits right on the main street. I visited after an early lunch nearby and it was already busy with customers!

I love that it's open year-round, Chuseok holidays included :)

The sushi is nicely displayed so you can browse as you pass by :) The owner greeted me warmly when I arrived — it puts you in a good mood even before you start choosing.

From single pieces to mixed platters, you can pick whatever sushi you want! Everything looked so good I kept agonizing over what to get (lol). I originally planned to get futomaki and engawa, but in the end I packed 2 omakase sushi sets (₩18,000 each) to take home!

Does sushi packed at midday hold up until dinner in a cold pack?

September has cooled down a lot, but it's still hot during the day, so they carefully packed it in a cold bag with an ice pack. That took care of dinner too :)

Worried the rice would go hard if I put it straight in the fridge, I added a couple more cold packs at home and kept it that way until dinner. When I opened it, there was still a slight chill left, which made it perfect for eating^^

What's in the 18,000-won omakase sushi, 10 pieces

It was made up of flounder, salmon, tuna, uni, salmon roe, eel and more — all delicious picks, which pleased me a lot! I do think it would have been even better with some futomaki thrown in too (haha).

With 10 pieces, it made for a perfectly satisfying meal.

They also included miso soup, and once I mixed it with hot water, it tasted exactly like the miso soup you get at sushi restaurants — a great pairing with the sushi.

They packed everything — wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger — so it felt just like eating at a Japanese restaurant, nothing missing haha.

Best of all, my favorite engawa was part of the omakase set, so I ended up eating all 2 pieces, including my husband's share!!!

Started with the white-fleshed fish and finished with the seasoned sushi. A perfect meal :) I'd had sushi just two days before (haha), but I enjoyed this so much! There's so much good food at Moraenae Market that I should do another market tour soon, and pick up more Minyeong Hwareo sushi while I'm at it!! Thanks for the meal~
