I suddenly had a huge craving for dakgangjeong (Korean-style fried chicken) recently, so I looked up where to get good ones and ended up at Dalgom's in Uijeongbu's Jeil Market. Dakgangjeong can get a little tiring if you only eat one flavor, so I was looking for a place where I could pick several flavors, and Dalgom's let me do exactly that, which I liked.

Parking at Uijeongbu Jeil Market: how to get the free 1-hour ticket

Dalgom's was easy to visit even by car. I parked at the Uijeongbu Jeil Market parking lot, mentioned it to the staff, and they gave me a 1-hour free parking coupon.

Parking fees are always a bit of a worry when you drive to a market, but with 1 hour free, it was nice to pick up the chicken and take a quick look around the market too.

What the Dalgom's shop inside Jeil Market is like

Even from the outside, Dalgom's looked different from a typical dakgangjeong shop — a clean, tidy interior was visible right away.

Once I stepped inside, the interior was just as tidy, which was great. I'd assumed a dakgangjeong place would smell heavily of frying oil, but the whole store felt neatly organized.

Most customers order and take their food straight to go, so it felt less like a place to sit for a long time and more like a dakgangjeong specialist built for takeout and delivery.

Dalgom's menu and prices: party size sets the number of flavors

Dalgom's menu is organized by size, and the menu board was easy to read at a glance, which made deciding on flavors pretty fun. Personally, I loved that you could choose multiple flavors like this.

Even if you order just one dakgangjeong, you don't have to stick to one flavor — depending on your mood that day, you can have something sweet, something soy-based, and something cheesy!

It's set up this way so it's easy to pick based on how many people you're feeding. Since I wanted to try several flavors, I went with the three-people, one-and-a-half chicken option for ₩24,000.

I picked sweet + garlic soy + Bburinkle as my three flavors. Choosing three flavors instead of just one made me even more excited before I even took a bite haha. Sweet is the classic dakgangjeong flavor that comes to mind first, so I figured it'd be a safe, solid choice; garlic soy I picked expecting a sweet-and-salty combo. And finally, Bburinkle! I like cheese powder, so out of the three, this was the one I was personally most curious about haha.

Sweet flavor: the classic glaze done right

I started with the sweet flavor first. It was exactly the sweet, saucy flavor you think of when you hear dakgangjeong.

The glaze coated the chicken evenly, so the sweetness came through right from the first bite — a solid, reliable choice if you like classic dakgangjeong. Sharing it among three of us, the sweet flavor was easy to keep reaching for in between.

Garlic soy: my favorite of the three at Dalgom's

Next up was garlic soy! Personally, this was my favorite of the three.

The savory saltiness of the soy sauce combined with the garlic aroma gave it a clearly different feel from the sweet flavor. When you keep eating dakgangjeong, having a soy-based option mixed in seems to make it a lot less tiring than eating only the sweet kind.

Bburinkle: cheese powder that stands out from the first look

Last was the Bburinkle I'd been looking forward to. With the cheese powder sprinkled on, it clearly looked different from the other two.

It had a totally different feel from the sweet, saucy version, so switching between the three flavors kept things fun. Ordering all three flavors together was, in my opinion, the right call. Eating sweet, then garlic soy, then Bburinkle, and back again, the taste kept changing so we never got bored.

If you're visiting with friends or family, going with several flavors instead of just one seems like a great idea. And dakgangjeong is definitely best eaten warm. Since we ate it right after picking it up, the combination of sauce and crispy fried chicken was great, and splitting the three flavors and debating which one was best was part of the fun too.

This time I picked sweet, garlic soy, and Bburinkle, but next time I'd like to swap in some other flavors to try. It seems like a good spot to stop by when you're grocery shopping or browsing Uijeongbu's Jeil Market and want a snack.
