Seoul Chinese restaurant with duck fried rice for two: Mirimyangjang

In short

Mirimyangjang Seocho is a Peking duck specialist Chinese restaurant on the basement level of a building on Seocho-jungang-ro, right by Gyodae Station in Seoul. Two diners ordered half a Peking duck, duck fried rice, mandu (dumplings) and morning glory greens: the duck skin was crisp and the meat stayed moist, and asking for a side of sugar to dip the skin in made it even better. With plenty of private rooms and group tables, Mirimyangjang Seocho also works well for work dinners and family meals.

I had Peking duck at Mirimyangjang Seocho, a Peking duck spot near Gyodae Station, and it was great! Highly recommend it for a company lunch or dinner — lots of rooms, quiet atmosphere, and great service too!!

I wanted something special in Chinese food near Gyodae Station, so I went to Mirimyangjang Seocho. Instead of the usual jjajangmyeon or jjamppong, this is a place where you can enjoy proper Peking duck, so I had high hopes.

Parking and finding the entrance at Mirimyangjang Seocho

Mirimyangjang Seocho has parking available (mechanical). It's on the basement level of 151 Seocho-jungang-ro, so you park and head down haha.

Private rooms and group tables: is Mirimyangjang Seocho good for work dinners?

Mirimyangjang Seocho has many private rooms and group seating too, so it's a good spot for a company lunch or dinner get-together. We sat at a regular table, but there's group seating like below too!!

What two people ordered at Mirimyangjang Seocho

What we ordered that day was half a Peking duck, duck fried rice, mandu (dumplings), and morning glory greens.

We visited as two and ordered three dishes, and the balance — from the main dish to the rice dish to the vegetable — was really satisfying.

Half a Peking duck, with sugar for dipping the skin

The one I was most looking forward to — half a Peking duck!

Glossy Peking duck skin
Thin pancakes with cucumber and scallion strips

If you order a whole Peking duck you might worry about the portion being too much, but they have a half-duck option, so it was perfect for two people. It's exactly the right choice if you also want to try other dishes together.

The glossy Peking duck skin was crispy and savory, and the meat inside was moist rather than dry.

The distinctive duck smell wasn't strong either, so it was easy to enjoy without hesitation. Wrapping the duck meat, crispy skin, cucumber, and scallion strips in a thin pancake with a bit of sweet sauce made for a really great mix of flavor and texture. Crispy, moist, and crunchy all in one bite — I kept reaching for more.

Oh, and they give you sugar separately if you ask! We asked for sugar and dipped the duck skin in it, and it was really delicious. Extras like cucumber or scallion could be ordered from your phone via QR code, which was convenient haha.

Mandu (dumplings) seasoned just right without soy sauce

And the mandu (dumplings)!! They don't give you soy sauce, but there's a reason haha — the seasoning is spot on already.

Duck fried rice and morning glory greens

The duck fried rice we ordered along with it was also great.

The savory flavor of the duck naturally soaked into the rice, and with a hint of that smoky wok flavor, it paired really well as a rice dish after eating Peking duck. The seasoning wasn't too strong or greasy, so it was good on its own too, and it felt even more filling alongside the Peking duck. If you want to finish off your Peking duck meal with some carbs, this is a dish I'd recommend.

Morning glory played the role of cleansing the palate amid dishes that could otherwise feel a bit rich. The crunchy stems and fragrant garlic flavor stood out, and the seasoning wasn't overly salty either, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. Adding one vegetable dish instead of just ordering meat and fried rice made the whole meal feel much more balanced.

Eating all three dishes together, the combination was excellent. The crispy, moist texture of the Peking duck, the savoriness of the duck fried rice, and the crunchy, clean taste of the morning glory all complemented each other well. If you're visiting as a pair, try centering your order around half a Peking duck with duck fried rice and morning glory on the side.

Who is Mirimyangjang Seocho best for?

I'd recommend Mirimyangjang Seocho to anyone near Gyodae Station or Seocho-dong looking for a Chinese restaurant with a nice atmosphere, or anyone wanting something a bit special for a date or family meal. Next time I'd like to try eggplant fritters or other Chinese dishes alongside the Peking duck.
