Gyodae Station Korean set menu with braised short ribs: Huiyeol Seocho
In short
Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is a private-room hanjeongsik (Korean set-menu) restaurant on the basement level of 1 Beopwon-ro 1-gil, right by Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. Three of us took a private room and ordered braised beef short ribs (₩83,000), Korean beef jeon (pan-fried beef), three servings of seasonal hot pot rice and non-alcoholic beer; the short ribs came as two whole racks, aged 48 hours and slow-braised until fork-tender. With corkage free for up to two bottles of wine or whiskey per table, Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is an easy recommendation for company dinners or first meetings between families.

A high-end Korean set-meal restaurant you can enjoy in a totally private room — perfect for family meetings, business dinners, or company get-togethers — Huiyeol near Gyodae Station in Seocho is INSANELY good. Why did nobody tell me?? haha The parade of Korean dishes from braised short rib to beef jeon to hot pot rice was a genuinely moving experience for a regular guy like me ~,~ Let me introduce Gyodae's hidden gem, Huiyeol!

Even the name stands out — Huiyeol (희열) is written with the characters for 'joy' and 'delight.'

How big are the private rooms? Up to 24 guests
Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch is the kind of high-end Korean set-meal restaurant that makes a regular guy feel humbled — it's that clean and upscale. The private rooms hold up to 24 people, so it seems great for group bookings or year-end gatherings. If I ever host a company dinner, I want it here. Isn't there an unwritten rule that company dinners have to be expensive and delicious?? Full-venue rental is also possible — even on Sundays, their regular closed day!

There were three of us, and we were given a spacious room. That meant we could be loud in a quiet atmosphere — no worrying about other tables!!

What three people ordered: braised short ribs, Korean beef jeon, seasonal hot pot rice
Here's the Huiyeol menu. Surprisingly, there are dishes even a regular guy like me can afford — hot pot rice, short rib soup, boiled beef, hot pot, and more. If you're coming for a company dinner, go for the pricier dishes; if you're with a close friend, the more modest ones work fine. As the three of us, we ordered braised short rib 🐮, three seasonal hot pot rices, Korean beef jeon, and non-alcoholic beer / cola.

Corkage at Huiyeol Seocho: free for up to two bottles
These days it's hard to drink on a weekday, so non-alcoholic is perfect. But get this — wine and whiskey are corkage-free up to two bottles per table here 🫢 Beyond that, it's ₩20,000 per bottle.

Being a high-end Korean set meal, even the side dishes are proper Korean banchan. My personal favorite was the yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi) ~,~

Non-alcoholic, but we still had to cheers.

It looked more festive than my own birthday table. There are many menu items, but the signature dishes are Korean beef and napa cabbage hot pot, Korean beef short rib hot pot rice, braised short rib, and Korean beef suyuk (boiled beef).

Braised beef short ribs, ₩83,000: two whole racks of ribs
Ahh,,,
No but look at the portion. Two full racks of ribs went in whole. At ₩83,000 it's on the pricier side, but they clearly didn't hold back. Braised with potato, carrot, and lotus root, aged 48 hours and slow-cooked at low temperature. Naturally, it was tender and delicious.

I should review the other dishes too but I'm trapped by this braised short rib and can't move on,, The crowd-pleasing soy-based sauce with the tender beef ribs,,,,,, I'm so jealous of my past self right now,, If it's two people eating, this dish alone would probably be enough.

Korean beef jeon: six palm-sized pieces
But since there were three of us, we ordered one more thing. And it's none other than Korean beef jeon (pan-fried marinated beef). Six slices come out, each about the size of my palm, and eaten with the sweet-and-tangy lettuce & jeon combo, I honestly wasn't sure if I'd ended up in heaven.

~Can't skip the bragging moment~

Seasonal hot pot rice, a ₩6,000-per-person add-on
But we can't skip the carbs. Seasonal hot pot rice can be added for ₩6,000 per person.

The hot pot rice was topped with sweet potato, lotus root, ginkgo nuts, and green onion. Even this side dish felt thoughtfully made, and thanks to the root vegetables on top, the rice had a subtle natural sweetness.

They scoop out the rice and pour in hot water, then you mix in the seasoning sauce and eat. I don't love overly strong-tasting food, and this sauce was light enough to just add a savory boost without overpowering the main dishes.
I scraped up every last bit of the scorched rice (nurungji) before leaving.
Is Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch worth a second visit?
I left one hundred percent satisfied. There are dishes I haven't tried yet — Korean beef short rib, Korean beef mul-hoe (cold raw beef soup), yukhoe (beef tartare), abalone and squid sashimi, seasoned scallops, red tilefish — and they all sound amazing, so I definitely want to come back. Beyond the food, the upscale atmosphere firmly convinced me to return for a special occasion. I want to come back! For a company dinner spot near Seocho/Gyodae Station, I highly, highly recommend Huiyeol.
