Seocho Chinese restaurant with half Peking duck: Mirimyangjang Seocho

In short

Mirimyangjang Seocho (미림양장 서초점) is a Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant on basement level 1 at 151 Seocho-jungang-ro, near Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a weekday lunch, the writer and a friend shared a half order of Peking duck with cabbage duck wraps and a side of Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles, with crisp skin and juicy meat. For two people who want Peking duck without committing to a whole bird, the half-duck order at Mirimyangjang Seocho is the answer.

A few days ago I finally got to set up a lunch date with a friend after a long while. I really wanted to eat somewhere with great food and a great atmosphere. So we headed to a hot spot near Gyodae Station.

It's already famous as a Peking duck restaurant, but it's easy to enjoy even on a weekday lunch without breaking the bank, so my friend and I decided to go. This is Mirimyangjang Seocho, with its irresistibly exotic vibe!

Where is Mirimyangjang Seocho, and what is it like inside?

Mirimyangjang Seocho is on the basement floor at 151 Seocho-jungang-ro, near Gyodae Station. The moment you open the door and step in, it feels like a scene straight out of a Hong Kong film. It's full of an antique yet hip vibe.

And then, catching my eye — Peking ducks roasted golden brown~~~!! It brought back memories of eating them in Beijing.

Half Peking duck and cabbage duck wraps for two

Mirimyangjang Seocho has a half-order Peking duck menu, which is perfect for small groups of two. Peking duck usually comes in a huge portion, so it can feel like too much for just two people, right?

The duck came out beautifully roasted, with skin that was crisp and meat that was juicy — a true textbook example of crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside.

The cabbage duck wraps in particular were great — the savoriness of the duck and the crunch of the cabbage came together to cut through what could otherwise be a heavy, greasy taste. Every bite made me let out a little sigh of satisfaction.

The side order: Hong Kong-style stir-fried egg noodles

You can't skip the noodle dish as a pairing for the duck at Mirimyangjang Seocho! We ordered the Hong Kong-style egg noodle stir-fry as a side.

The chewy, springy texture unique to egg noodles came through, and stir-fried with their special sauce, the umami just exploded. It wasn't overly strong-flavored but kept pulling us back in, so my friend and I scraped the plate clean together. If you're debating what noodle dish to order for a weekday lunch, I really recommend trying this.
