On the drive home from a family trip, it felt like a shame to just head straight back, so we decided to stop by a café in Anseong. A friend who lives in Anseong had once told me, "You should go there — the café's really good!" That place was Chat Baker in Anseong.

It's not far from Anseong Starfield, so this large Anseong café seemed like a good stop before or after a trip, or on the way back from Starfield. I'd kept it in mind and finally visited this time. Long story short... the moment we walked in, I understood exactly why my friend recommended it, haha.

The first thing I thought as soon as we arrived was, "Wow, it's bigger than I expected!" We visited in the evening, and the soft lighting on the building's exterior gave it both the grandeur typical of large cafés and a nice atmosphere.

You can see straight through the huge picture windows into the clean, sleek interior, so my expectations were already rising before we even stepped in. If you're looking for a café near Anseong Starfield, this is a place worth checking out at least once.

How wide is the table spacing?

Once inside, the space felt even bigger than it looked from outside. It's mostly white-toned, with wooden tables and chairs adding warmth. What I liked most, though, was how much space there was between tables!

At some large cafés, seats are packed so tightly you end up hearing every word from the next table, which can get a bit much. Chat Baker uses its space generously.

The seats were pretty comfortable too, good for sitting and chatting over coffee for a long while. It seemed like a place families or groups of friends could use without feeling cramped.

A window that makes it feel like a rainy day

This was the part of Chat Baker that surprised me most! At first I genuinely thought it was raining outside. But looking closer, I realized the huge glass window was designed to have water constantly flowing down it.

With water running down the glass, it really looked like rain was falling outside — a genuinely unique atmosphere. At night, with the added lighting, it felt like sitting in a café on a rainy day. I think a single feature like this makes the whole café feel much more atmospheric. It photographs and films beautifully too.

What kind of bakery selection do they have?

And the most important part of any bakery café — checking out the bread, haha. Looking at the display case, there was a wide variety.

Overall the bread was baked to a mouthwatering golden color. There were plenty of options good for eating with kids — croissants, salt bread, mocha bread, sausage bread — plus sweet desserts that caught my eye too.

The glossy sausage bread in particular looked salty and savory just from the shine on it!

The bread display was kept neat and tidy too, which made a great first impression overall.

They also have cakes and bingsu

There were cakes that made you want to eat them just by looking at them. It's not just a bread shop — with bingsu (shaved ice dessert) and other dessert menu items too, it's a great spot for a group to order a variety of bread and desserts. We had chocolate bingsu and bread together that day. Even after eating all kinds of things while traveling, somehow there's always room left for dessert at a café, lol.

The 2nd floor mixes East and West in its interior

The 1st floor is spacious already, but there's also a terrace and a 2nd floor, so just exploring the café itself was fun.

What especially caught my eye was a space with a green-textured structure and white ceramic pieces set against white walls. It's a quite modern space, but with ceramic-like Eastern elements woven in, it gives off a strangely Korean feel too.

A Western-style large bakery café blended naturally with Eastern objects? It's a bit different from the usual large-café interiors you see, so it was fun to walk around and look.

We ordered chocolate bingsu since it's a good pick for kids — sweet and cool, and it tasted even better since we were tired after the trip.

The bread was also as good as I'd hoped. Honestly, large cafés often have a great atmosphere but sometimes the bakery itself is just okay. Chat Baker's bread display looked great, and what we tried tasted good too —

— so I thought, "this isn't just a café with a good vibe." We finished off the last leg of our trip relaxing over chocolate bingsu.

Most of all, I was satisfied being able to relax in a spacious setting with good bread and chocolate bingsu. There was also a sign about a review event on one side of the store. They were running an event where you get salt bread for leaving a review, and a sign for it was set up when I visited. Events like this can change depending on when you visit, so it's worth checking at the store. If you like salt bread, this is the kind of event that catches your eye, haha.
