Damyang bakery café with brown cheese croffle: Frank Coffin Bar
In short
Frank Coffin Bar Damyang is a brick-fronted, European-style bakery café inside the Metasequoia Provence (메타프로방스) complex in Damyang. On a weekend visit at 4pm the order was a Frank Coffee (6,000 won) and an Americano (5,000 won) with a brown cheese croffle (9,000 won), plus a croissant and a Mont Blanc pastry, and the ice cream with salty brown cheese was the highlight of the day. The bakery case is picked over by late afternoon, but the pastries still left at Frank Coffin Bar Damyang are more than enough to satisfy.

Where is Frank Coffin Bar Damyang?
Frank Coffin Bar Damyang is a café at 13 Metasequoia 1-gil, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, Jeonnam, inside the Metasequoia Provence complex. Parking is free at the complex's lot, and it's open daily 09:00–22:00 (last order 21:30).

I went on a weekend trip to Damyang and stopped by Frank Coffin Bar Damyang for coffee. ☕️ It's a café located inside Metasequoia Provence — and you know how the whole complex already has that colorful-building feel of wandering some foreign town?! Even in that setting, Frank Coffin Bar's exterior stood out. The brick facade with a vintage vibe made it feel like stepping into a café somewhere in Europe! 🤎 I'd already driven all the way to Damyang, but this gave me the feeling of having traveled even further, if only for a moment.
What the inside of Frank Coffin Bar Damyang looks like

It wasn't just the exterior that was pretty — the inside had a really good atmosphere too. Exotic interior that could belong on some European alley, soft jazz playing in the background, low lighting! Overall it leaned vintage and classic, and Frank Coffin Bar's own identity came through clearly. 🎷☕️ It's a great spot to slowly unwind over coffee, so it'd be perfect for anyone looking for a café in Metasequoia Provence, Damyang.
Menu and bakery case at Frank Coffin Bar Damyang

The menu had everything from signature coffee to Americano, lattes, and various drinks. The menu board mostly listed croffles under bread, but looking at the showcase next to it, there were way more bakery varieties than I expected. 🥐

Besides coffee, Frank Coffin Bar Damyang apparently offers 15 kinds of bakery items, made and sold same-day. We visited around 4pm on a weekend, and a lot of the bakery had already sold out, which was a bit disappointing. 🥹 Looking at what was left, there were quite a lot of pastry varieties.

On one side they also sell Frank Coffin Bar goods and coffee beans — personally I really wanted one of the mugs. 🤎
What we ordered and what it cost

- Frank Coffee ₩6,000
- Americano ₩5,000
- Brown cheese croffle ₩9,000
- Croissant, Mont Blanc
That day I was especially craving bread, so I loaded up on a bunch of stuff. 🥐 Seeing the bread and coffee arranged nicely on the tray, the visuals were so good I had to snap photos before eating anything. 📸
Frank Coffee, 6,000 won

Frank Coffee is a cream latte topped with Frank cream. I thought a cream latte would be really sweet, but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, which I liked. The cream brings sweetness, and paired with the coffee the balance was just right! ☕️🤎 Even people who like sweet coffee but don't want it too sweet should enjoy this one.
Americano, 5,000 won

I originally planned to order two of the signature drink, but figured I'd need an Americano to go with the croffle — and that turned out to be the right call. 👏 Nutty, strong coffee flavor that paired really well with the sweet desserts. Especially with the brown cheese croffle, one bite followed by a sip of Americano cut the sweetness and made a perfect combo.
Brown cheese croffle, 9,000 won

And the highlight of the day was the brown cheese croffle! 🧇🍨 Ice cream on top of a crisply baked croffle, drizzled generously — and I mean generously — with brown cheese. Crispy croffle + cold ice cream + salty, rich brown cheese 🥹 that combination is hard to mess up. 🤎 I'm not usually someone who loves super sweet desserts, but I really enjoyed this. Though an Americano is a must! ☕️ It tasted way better together.
They also give you honey on the side, and drizzling that on top takes the sweetness up another level. 🍯

How were the croissant and Mont Blanc pastry?
Honestly I didn't expect much from the bread when I ordered, but that thinking changed completely after tasting it. Most of what we ordered were pastry types — crisp on the outside, with real flaky layers inside and not too sweet, which made them delicious. I also picked one bread I'd never seen before, and when I split it in half, it was packed with custard cream! I'd picked it with zero expectations and ended up devouring it. 🥹

In the end I couldn't resist trying the croissant too, and the layers inside when I split it were genuinely impressive. They say the bakery is made in-house, and honestly it'd be a waste to come here just for coffee. If you go to Frank Coffin Bar, definitely order at least one bakery item alongside your drink. 🥐

It's a good spot to rest while exploring Metasequoia Provence, and the pretty atmosphere also makes it a nice date-course stop.
